I blinked my eyes open, squinting at the bright sunlight that pierced through the curtains. I snuggled closer to the shirtless chest beside me, feeling his warmth and heartbeat. I slowly adjusted to the light and pulled away, hopping off the bed. I walked like a zombie across the room, something I had gotten used to, due to my sore body.

Every morning I woke up with the same symptoms, but it was not something to complain about anymore. I went to the bathroom, took a quick shower and brushed my teeth at a leisurely pace, staring at my reflection in the mirror.

My thin figure belied my health, which was perfectly fine. I went back to the room, and shook my head in disappointment at him. How could he sleep so peacefully in a foreign country?

I needed sleep more than he did, but I just couldn't until the early hours. The terrifying things I had heard about this place haunted me.

I knew I shouldn't be afraid since Daniel was with me, but I couldn't help it. I tapped lightly on his shoulders to wake him up.

"Please, let me be," his deep voice said.

"Don't you have a meeting?" I asked as his body started to stir.

"What meeting?" he mumbled, turning his head away from me.

"We are in the Red Moon pack, to discuss peace with their alpha. Remember?"

The moment my words sank in his head, he jumped off the bed.

Without any reply, he went to the bathroom, and came back in five minutes with messy hair and a toned body, only wearing a boxer. Using a towel, he dried himself off and wore his clothes in no time.

Grabbing his phone, he marched to the bedroom door before I stopped him.

"Wait!" I ran to him as he held the door halfway open.

I ran my fingers along his messy hair, trying to make it less messy, and looked up at him.

"How do you always forget such important things?" I asked.

"Actually, I'm blaming you for that. I got used to having you around, reminding me of every detail," he stated with a smirk on his face. I rolled my eyes at him, as I held his face between my hands.

"What if I wasn't around anymore?" I asked, tilting my head up.

"I would die before anything happens to you," he mumbled, kissing my forehead.

"I love you," he said, looking down at me.

"I love you too," I said back, offering him a smile before he let go and walked through the door, shutting it behind him.

My stomach growled loudly five hours later, as I was reading a novel I had brought from home. Did they have room service? I wondered, as I had never been to this territory before.

Since Daniel took over the title of alpha two years ago, our pack was the third strongest pack in the world. When his father was in charge, he had made a peace deal with the strongest pack, which was the Red Moon pack.

The deal was for ten years, and there was a condition that stated no matter who the alpha was, both packs had to respect the peace until the ten years were over.

Now, there were two new alphas, the Western Empire and the Red Moon pack. According to what Daniel had said, the Red Moon alpha was the most feared one. He killed whoever stood in his way. He had already wiped out two packs, and killed everyone.

I hated hearing such stories about the existence of cruel, heartless monsters. If I could save the world from such people, I would have. I was totally against making another peace deal with the Red Moon pack. I didn't want Daniel to be friends with a monster who desired people's suffering, but he had to protect his pack, even if it meant siding with the evil.

He said no one knew what truth lay behind the extinction of the two packs, and it was not worth risking his own for it.

I groaned, feeling exhausted and hungry. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply, clearing my mind so I could mind-link Daniel.

"Dan! I'm starving. Are you still in the meeting?" I asked, knowing I wouldn't get a reply.Mostly, when I mind-linked him, he would immediately come to me. When he couldn't, he would just call me.

I opened my eyes and reached for my phone on the nightstand. Minutes later, it buzzed, informing me there was a call.

"Dan!" I answered.
