After Draco unpacked the few things he had, I led him upstairs for dinner. I didn't feel like making dinner today, so I grabbed his hand and pulled him outside and into the driveway. I dragged him into the passenger seat of my blue Sedan. We drove down the block, turned onto Main Street, and pulled up next to McDonald's. We got out of the car and walked through the door into the building. We stood in front of the menu and I asked him, "What do you want?" He looked so confused, I snorted, then covered my mouth. As my giggles died down, I pulled him into the line for the register. When we got to the front, I said, "We'll take 2 Big Macs, a medium pop, and a large fry to go, please." The cashier rang up our order and as I paid, she said, "Well, you two are just adorable! I can't remember the last time I saw a couple as cute as you guys." My eyes widened, wondering if she was serious. I realized our fingers were still intertwined from when I dragged him into the line. I dropped his hand and told the cashier, "We aren't a couple." "Oh," she responded simply, not as embarrassed as she should've been. She gave me my change and I grabbed Draco's arm, NOT his hand and dragged him out of the line, into the back of the waiting area, to wait for the order to come up. While we waited for them to call our number, I started talking to him. "So, are you gonna go back to Hogwarts to finish the seventh year?" "I don't know. I want to, but everyone hates me because I used to be a death eater." "Oh, I'm sure no one even cares about that anymore. Voldemort is dead, no one blames you for the losses we suffered. You had to kill. It was you job, and we accept that." He smiled at me, and I must admit he has a lovely smile. It was nothing like the smirks I was used to receiving. The thing that made it so beautiful was that it was pained. It was not completely unburdened by sorrow like the smiles I was used to seeing from Ginny and Ron. I was watery, guilty, and totally fake. But he had the most glorious fake smile I had ever seen. And in it, I saw something I recognized. I saw something that I saw every day when I looked in the mirror, or when I looked at Fred, or Harry. I saw someone who had faced down death, who had defied the rules and barely made it out with their life. I saw not someone who lived, but someone who almost, who should've died. I gave him a fake smile back, and he looked into my eyes, biting his lip. Just then our number was called. I tore myself away from the maze of his face and grabbed our Big Macs. We drove home in silence, and when we got back I settled down at the table with the bag. He sat across from me and I opened the takeout bag. I handed him his Big Mac. I had filled the pop with Sprite before we left and popped two straws into it. The fries and the pop sat in the middle of the table so we could both take from them. I picked up my sandwich and took a bite. He copied me and let out a moan. "God, this is delicious." He said. "What, have you never had a Big Mac before?" "No." "Oh my boy, you are in for a treat." I said, finally the one who got to smirk at him. We ate in silence. When we were done I threw away the garbage and looked at him awkwardly. "Umm... make yourself at home, I guess." Then I walked down stairs to the basement, leaving him staring at me from behind. When I got into the basement, I realized he was following me. I turned and said, "I'm going to the burrow. Want to come?" "What's the burrow?" "The Weasley's." Realization dawned on him, and he said, "Oh yeah. Your boyfriends' place." "No" I said. "What?" "No. Me and Ron broke up a few weeks into the summer, and anyways it's time for the Sunday meeting." "What's that?" "It's a new thing Mrs. Weasley is trying. Her and Mr. Weasley lead it, and me, Harry, Ginny, Ron, Fred, George, Percy, Bill, and Charlie all have to sit down and listen to whatever crap they say. Bill and Charlie are here for the summer. It's kinda fun sometimes. After, me, Harry, Ginny, Ron, Fred, and George go up to Ron, Fred, and George's room and just hang out for awhile. Do you wanna come or not?" "Are they gonna be mad at you for bringing me?" "Maybe... Oh! This is gonna sound crazy, but what if you pretend to be my boyfriend?" "Would that really work?" "Well, it would make them feel bad if they killed you, and that's really the best I can offer you." "Okay." I walked into my room with him following me. I grabbed my broom from my powder room and threw his to him (it was one of the few things he had got from his house). "You know how to ride a broom?" He asked in awe. "Yeah, Harry got me one for my birthday and taught me how to ride it. Ron says I'm amazing, and Ginny says I should try out for the quidditch team." I walked up stairs and out the front door. In the yard, I looked around for muggles, then mounted my broom and kicked off. Me and Draco zoomed through the breezy summer air. He followed me since he had no idea how to get to the burrow. I touched down in the orchard. I ran over to where Harry was just dismounting his broom. I gave him a huge hug. Draco hung around the back of the yard. Harry picked me up off the ground and spun me around. Yeah, I saw him a week ago, but it was still nice to see him. Once Harry set me down, I went to retrieve Draco. I took his hand and we walked back towards Harry. I could practically see steam coming out of Harry's ears. "What is he doing here?" He asked furiously. "I told you this was a bad idea." Draco said. I said to Harry, "We got in touch over the summer, and we're dating now." If anything, this made Harry more mad. I could tell he was about to start yelling, so I took my hand away from Draco's and placed it over Harry's mouth. "Now, now, Harry, when you started dating Ginny, did Ron get mad at you? No. Now, I love Draco, so if you could at least make an effort to like him, that would be great." He rolled his eyes and nodded. "Thank you." Together, the three of us walked in to face the Weasleys.
