Me, mother and father, Blaise, and Draco all grabbed our broomsticks and headed to the front lawn to head to my new home. My not-parents came out to see us off. My not-mum tried to hug me, but I pushed her away. As we took off, she waved and yelled, "Goodbye Hermione!" I steeled my resolve and did not look back or say a single word. When we landed on the Zabini property, I was too angry to take in the beautiful gardens and the large house. I stormed straight inside, plopped down on a couch, turned to my mother, and demanded, "Answers. Now." She sighed and settled in for a long conversation, but just before she began, Blaise entered. "Could I explain to her, mother? I just recently went through the same talk." She nodded and left the room. As soon as the door closed, he took both my hands and whispered, "Hermione. I know exactly how you feel. When they first told me. I couldn't believe it either. But it's true. We are veelas. Our kids will be veelas. Their kids will be veelas. We come from a long pureblooded Veela line. All you really need to know is that to recognize your mate, you will need to touch them. It doesn't matter where. When you do touch them, you will feel a shock. It will hurt, I'm not gonna lie, but it also feels so good. To claim them, you must first kiss. This can be done at any time. Then, you must mark them. This also can be done at any time. Marking is simply a bite in the nape of the neck. The next step must be done within a month of the marking. You must... do the do with them. All of these must be completed within a year from today. Your soulmate will smell the same as amortentia, and we brought in some amortentia so you can follow the scent of whatever you smell. Beware, when you smell it, your Veela side will take over. You will not be able to control yourself until they are in your sights. Here." With the final word, he handed me a small vial. I took a deep breath before taking a small sniff. Instantly, I had no control. Something deep inside me stirred and shoved me away from the control panel. I began running. I ran out of the manor, out of the gate, and through the countryside. I recognized the burrow appearing over the horizon. As I scampered through the door, I came into a room with six people in it: Ron, Draco, Harry, Ginny, Fred, and George. I regained my composure and said matter-of-factly, before any of them could speak, "It's me, Hermione. Apparently my parents aren't actually my parents, the Zabinis are, so they removed the glamour that I have had on for my entire life. Also, the Zabini family is a pureblooded Veela line, and I'm a Veela. Also also, someone in this room is my mate." I finished my sentence and took a deep breath. They all looked shocked, and I suppose this was a lot of information to take in. "When I first touch my soulmate, I'm supposed to get a shock, so can I just touch each of you real quick?" Ron immediately was out of his seat. He took my hand, but I felt nothing. I shook my head at him. He sadly sat back down. Ginny came up next and gave me a big hug. Once again, nothing. Fred and George both came up at the same time, each grabbing one of my arms and hoisting me above their heads. I laughed, but felt nothing once more. Harry stood up and gently touched my arm, but nothing happened. That left only one person in the room. Draco stood up and gently took one of my arms in each hand. A shock ran through my body, seeming to rearrange the atoms with out really changing a thing. It hurt pretty bad, but it felt so good to feel, to breath, and I would love to see it too. It only lasted about three seconds, and when it was over, Draco pulled me towards him and kissed me. It was quick, but it was better than any kiss I had ever had with Ron. "I have to get back to the manor. Will you guys come?" I asked whole room, and they all nodded. We all grabbed hands and apparated to the manor. We landed right on one of the flower beds. We all scrambled away and I fixed the flowers. I led everyone to the house. We trooped up to the room I had been told was mine. It was plain white, with a full size bed, a big bookshelf, a huge wardrobe with anything a girl could ever want inside of it, and a large vanity. Everything was bright white except the clothes in the wardrobe. Everyone pulled out our wands and began personalizing the room. Everyone knew exactly how I would like my room. The bookshelf turned into solid mahogany wood, the bed frame matched the bookshelf. The sheets were green silk, Draco was very insistent (he said he might be using them soon and winked at me, causing Ron to turn purple and punch a hole in my wall), and the blanket was light green and furry. Harry lifted his wand to repair the wall, but I stopped him and instead used my wand to delicately burn the word Ron into the wall above the hole. Then, gesturing for my friends to follow my example, I punched the wall next to the hole Ron had made and burned my name above it. They all did the same, burning their own names in, and then because Ron didn't get to burn his name in, I let him burn above it a big heart and the words best friends in fancy cursive script. It was a way of rebelling that I had never tried before, but I liked it.
