Chapter 7- Regrets
"Tell me why you're actually here." Lucy asked as Cana picked up a card from the deck.
"Ever since you killed my sister and my daughter I've been looking for you. Then once I actually found where you were staying I learned you were-and still is-seventeen, next year you will be given an actual hearing." She placed down a card into the piling deck.
"I still don't understand." Lucy said confusingly.
Cana sighed, "I don't suppose you remember your Aunty Cana being a lawyer do you?"
Lucy gasp slightly. "I do."
"Then you might know I'll be the person trying to deem you guilty correct?"
Lucy let a tear stream down, "I do."
Cana wipes the tear, "awe Lucy, don't cry," she cooed, "once you die you can finally go to where you belong. In the deepest parts of hell...oh wait you're an atheist aren't you? Like your mother?"
Lucy grabbed Cana wrist, "I'm your niece Cana! You can't wish my dead!"
Cana roughly pulled back her arm, "you should have stopped when you heard Wendy's cries, now you must live with the consequences."
"I have! For more than five years!"
"Too bad."Lucy stood up and grabbed onto the bars, "I'll kill you!"
Cana pulled out her phone, "wanna say that again for the tape?"
Lucy stayed silent, any simple word related to killing or death could work in Cana's favor, and that's a risk she wasn't willing to take.
"No? Goodbye Lucy. See you in court."
Lucy slid down to her knees.
She regrets killing her family everyday, they did no wrong and she just had to kill them. Everyday she misses her two older brothers and the way they wrestled with her, she loved Michelle and their tea times. Lucy was there when Wendy was born, she held her as an infant. Her best friend, the only one who understood exactly what Lucy felt and dealt with at school.
Those people were kind and didn't deserve what they got. They were just there and Lucy felt the urge to kill each and every one of them, without a motive.
She let her face burry into her hands. "Stupid stupid stupid!"
"Lights out!" A guard shouted from the hall, the hall way darkened and no light seeped through any cracks.
Lucy curled up into a ball and allowed her face to moisten with her tears. No doubt tomorrow morning Natsu will notice the swollen red eyes, but all she could do was sit in her own dismay. She began to sing a song her mother used to sing to her.
"Hush little baby don't say a word,
Papas gonna but you a mocking bird,
A-and if that mocking bird won't sing,
Pa-papas gonna buy you a diamond ring,
And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Papas gonna but you a looking glass,
And if t-that looking glass gets broke,
Papas gonna buy you a billy goat,
And if that bill goat won't pull,
Papas gonna but you a-a cart and bull,
And if that cart and bull turn over,
Papas gonna but you a dog named rover,
And if that dog name rover won't bark,
Papas gonna but you a horse and cart,
And if that horse and cart fall down," she sniffed as more tears fell, "you'll still be the sweetest little Lucy in town."She cried and cried more, her sobs don't seem to have an end.
"I miss you mama and papa."
