Andrew

I walk out her door and head to my truck. I already miss her being in my arms as I pull out of her driveway. She was addictive. Soon, I am pulling up to my house and walking through the door. My mom is home, cooking dinner. She always cooks dinner late because she always comes home late.

“Where have you been? Are you hungry?” she asks while stirring the noodles.

“That’s none of your business and no, I already ate.”I grimly say as I make my way to my room. Before she can respond I slam my door shut.

I strip and make my way to the shower. In the shower I think of Saphira’s body against mine, under the spray of the water. Her slick, soft skin right up against mine while I…. I quickly dismiss those thoughts and turn the water to cold and finish cleaning my body and hair. I stand in the middle of my room, in only a towel low on my waist with water dripping down my body and seek for something to wear. I choose a plain black shirt and jeans that ride low on my hips. I add my leather jacket and a black hat to keep warm.

I race down the stairs and I am out the door under two minutes. I don’t need my mom asking questions or yell at me. I make my way towards her house and crank up “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” by Jake Owen. When I pull up all the lights are off and I can see Saphira waiting on the steps. I feel bad that she had to wait in the cold for me. I turn on the heater and jump out to meet her.

“What are you doing out in the cold?” I asked while taking of my jacket and putting it on her while leading her to my truck. Tonight she is wearing boots with heels, skinny jeans and a over sized sweatshirt.

“I didn’t want to stay in the house all alone.”

“I could have stayed.” I say as I open the door and gently seat her down.

“No, no. You needed to get changed and ready.” She ends the conversation by closing her door on me. As I make my way to the door I look at the house and notice it really does look creepy to stay in all alone. I turn on the truck and on the stereo it is playing “All Over the Road” by Easton Corbin. I smile to myself, thinking about her doing that to me. Soon enough, maybe that will happen. I can tell I’m having the same thoughts as Saphira because she has a devilish smile upon her face and mischief in her beautiful green eyes. I change the station and “Pour Some Sugar On Me” by Def Leppard comes on. I keep changing it because all the stations seem to have sexual songs on them. I change to one of my CD’s because I didn’t find a good station that didn’t have a sexual song on. “This Time” by Jonathan Rhys Meyers fills the speakers. We listen to the August Rush soundtrack while driving to the game.

“This place is packed.” She was right. Almost every parking spot was filled and there were students and adults everywhere. Pop music blared through the speakers of the stadium as the football players were warming up for the big game. We find a stop and make our way to the booth that you pay to get your ticket. I recognize some teens from school and say a quick hi to my friends. I head straight for the bleachers, holding onto Saphira’s hand the whole time. I’ve never been in the bleachers before. I’ve always on the field in my pads. Me and Saphira sit down at the same time, after we find a seat since it is so packed. The game feels like it’s going on forever because all I could think about was Saphira and the talk and how hot she was tonight, like she is every day.

We watch the game till half time and I could tell Saphira wasn’t really into it, maybe this was her first time at a game.  I was so into it. I watched every play, every tackle and I wished I was there playing. As some of the people start filling out to go to the stands for food or drinks, I grab Saphira’s hand and lead her behind the bleachers so we can talk.

“Listen, Saphira…” I start to say when she says “Andrew…” we both laugh.

“Um, I’ll start first if you don’t mind but I need to get this off my chest.”

“Yeah, go ahead.” She says understandingly.

“Saphira, if you want a relationship with me, and I do, we need to take things slow. It’s okay if you don’t want a relationship with me, I just need to know where we are at.”

“Andrew I believe the same thing. That was actually what I was gonna talk to you about. Yeah, we need to start taking things slow.”

“That’s great. I am so happy now. Okay, slow.” I say as I wrap her in my arms and hug her. She lays her head on my shoulder and nuzzles my neck. I hold her tighter and right then, in that moment, I knew I loved this girl and I will always show her how much I do. I just hope I don’t screw up and make her hate me.

“So, will you be my girlfriend?”

“Absolutely.”
