Vio's Point of View:
I did not react immediately and it allowed him to grab both of my wrists and pull me back a little, possibly away from Kyoko so I didn't murder her, which was a though I did briefly entertain. Green had been right there, where did he go? And where did she come from?
By the time I actually reacted, I knew I had been too slow. I tried to jerk away from Shadow, but his grip was way too firm. "Let me go!"
He pulled me a bit closer, I felt his breath on my ear. "No." I heard him chuckle. "You can leave now, Kyoko."
She nodded. The sunlight seemed to sparkle on the areas of her skin that looked like glass. She closed her eyes, there was a bright flash that nearly blinded me, and she was gone.
I opened my eyes and noticed Shadow had pressed his face into the back of my neck, breathing deeply through his nose.
"Shadow?"
"I know you have it, Vio..."
"Ha...Have what?"
"Just hand it over and I'll...avoid killing you."
I thought for a minute. Of course, I wouldn't hand it to him, that'd be stupid. I thought back to the conversation I had with Zelda...Shadow Link had told her about a new threat, but earlier, he claimed he was that threat. I felt like the six months we had been separated was too long, but I also knew that in the context it sounded like, it wasn't actually all that long, Zelda was probably thinking centuries ago. And she had said that his eyes went red. After the sword was pulled and he showed up, his eyes were red then. If I turned around would it be the familiar dark shade of blue I used to gaze at during the night? Or were they going to be that red color?
"Turn me around," I said.
"Hm?"
"Turn me around, Shadow."
"That wasn't what I asked you, Vio."
"Turn me around and I'll give you the piece of the Dark Mirror I have."
"Fine...I think you're lying to me, but I've been wanting to get a good look at you."
He did earlier, didn't he? My eyes don't change colors, I thought. I was lying to him, but if I was facing him, I'd be more likely to find a way to get out of the death grip he had on me. Probably.
He made me turn around to face him and then pulled my wrists so they were both in front of me, being held by one hand instead of him keeping them at my sides. I met his eyes--they were still red.
He hummed in approval and stroked my cheek. "You're even more handsome than I remember."
"Why are your eyes red?" I asked.
"Beats me. Now, are you gonna hand it to me, or...?"
I took a step away from him. His grip didn't release but the rest of my body wasn't as close as before. "What happens if I don't hand it over?"
"Well, it wouldn't be fun to kill you just for that, would it? I'll just have to strip search you for it." He winked at me and instead of noticing the threat behind his words, I flushed.
"Let go of me and I'll grab it," I said.
"Mm...no. I'm not stupid, Vio, I won't fall for that."
Of course that didn't work. "Of course you aren't stupid, Shadow, I know that...I just thought you wanted me to hand it over. How else can I give it to you?"
"Tell me where it is, Vi." He stroked my cheek some more. "I'll grab it, I'm not risking losing you."
It seemed like there was only one good decision I could make in the situation. Flirt with him.
"Can I give you something else? I really missed you, Shadow..."
"I missed you too, baby...but you'd think that if you missed me so much, you'd cooperate with me, but so far all you've really done is stall."
"I-I'll give it you! I love you! I'll cooperate now, I was being stupid. I'll give you the shard..."
"I knew you would, Vi..."
"Here, it's--" I stomped on his foot and Shadow was so shocked that he let go of me. I pulled away and tried to grab my sword before I remembered that...
"Now, you've done it, Vio."
Before I had a chance to run, he tackled me to the ground. We rolled for a second, but he ended up on top of me, legs around my waist and one of his hands pulling my wrists above my head. Maybe it could have been cute, but his other hand was squeezing my throat.
I gasped for breath when he let go and I could feel the bruises already forming.
"Where the fuck is it?"
I said I'd protect it with my life, I reminded myself.
"I don't have it on me," I lied.
"...I know you're lying, Vio." His hand reached into my pocket and he pulled out the shard. "You really need to quit lying to me--one day, you're gonna be perfectly honest with me and I won't believe you."
"Shadow," I started. "I--"
"Hush." He put a finger to my lips. "You talk almost as much as you lie. I'll find a way to stop both later, but you need to be good."
I bit his finger. "You're definition of good is obedient."
"You're right as always. So stop being good, and be obedient before I be mean and smash your head open." He looked at the shard in his palm. "Thanks for bringing it to me though."
I was not trying to bring it you! You stupid shadow!"
His eyes glared at me to the point where I felt like there should be holes burnt into my skull.
So, I kept going. "You think doing any of this will lead to anything worthwhile? You're a fool--you're still in the shadow of someone better than you, it's just someone different."
He backhanded me across the face. "Shut up!"
It hurt like hell and I noticed that his nails dripped blood. When we locked eyes again, his face smoothed itself out seamlessly.
"You're unarmed and injured, you don't want to make me angry, do you?"
I frowned. "I'm not injured though..."
"No, not really, not yet."
