My letter has finally arrived, it has finally arrived. I try to stay calm but my thoughts are going everywhere thinking about it. I need to go home now and see what it says before I can make any choices.
"Calum, mum needs me back at home," I try to speak normally as I tell him I'll see him tomorrow. He kisses me goodbye as I thank him for the movie.
In the car my thoughts are taken up by the letter and nothing but it. It's like it's haunting me nothing can make it go away anymore. I get in my car and drive home not putting my shoes on I'm in such a rush. I park in my driveway and fumble with the keys then get the front door unlocked.
"Mum where are you?"
"In the kitchen Ana," she replies.
I walk in to see her sitting on the counter top staring at the unopened letter in hand. She steps down to the floor then hands me the letter. I'm to nervous to hold it so I drop it quickly. I take a deep breath, pick the letter off of the ground and begin to open it. I take it out of the envelope and read carefully. I can feel my heart beating faster with every word until I see the final line.
"Mum," I say shaking, "I got in."
"Ana that's great! I'm so proud of you."
She hugs me and I hug back, we scream together and smile. Five months ago I was applying to universities and I came across one I really like, except it was all the way in the United States. It was my dream university and had everything I needed for my degree and even it set up the rest of my life. Going there is what I want more than anything and now I finally can.
My mum's face turns a little pale when she asks, "does Calum know?"
I put my head down. The one problem with me going to my dream university is Calum. I would have to leave him to go there, it is so far away and with the timezone I would never be able to see him. I don't know how to tell him though, it would kill him and I can't stand to see him suffer. My mum comes over and hugs me when I don't answer and tells me that it'll be okay. I'm not sure if it will but I listen to her words and try to find a calm place.
"The doorbell rang I'll be back in a minute." She lets go of me and walks to the door.
I hear her mumble a couple things and then I hear her call. "Ana, Calum's here you forgot something at his house."
I hear his feet hit the ground, I panic still holding the letter. I have five seconds to hide it and no idea where. The panic takes over and I shove it down Calum's over-sized sweatpants. He smiles when he sees me and moves closer.
"You left your wet clothes at my house and I thought you might want them back," he laughed as he handed me the wet clothes.
"Oh, thank you." I spoke a little taken back seeing as he didn't notice there was an awkward puff on my thigh.
"I have to go, mum needs my help moving some things around. Bye, love you." He spoke softly and left with a kiss.
"Bye Calum!" My mum waved as he left.
"Bye Mrs. Williams!" He spoke then he was off.
"Ana," my mum spoke closing the door after him, "you're going to have to tell him soon."
I put my head down again, "I know."
