Once upon a time, there was a lonely, heartbroken man seeking love. His soulmate had recently betrayed him, shattering his already fragile heart. He was looking for someone to heal it. He thought he had found the one. She was a beautiful princess, her silky blonde hair softer than a rose petal. Her looks truly made her stand out. The man tried his best to persuade the young lady.
- Ack, he proclaimed. Thy beauty is like an explosion, it blows me away.
The young lady snickered. "How adorable" she said in a soft tone. The man was happy, he thought he had a chance with a girl 1000 times more beautiful than him. They locked eyes, both smiling.
-Who is this peasant? a voice could be heard
The man looked in the direction of the sound. There stood an elegant young man who walked towards them.
-I am no peasant, boy.
-That's sir to you. I am the prince of this land, and this be my maiden.
An internal crack could be heard. But only the man could hear it. It was his heart shattering, once again. The man was silent, and walked away. Embarrassed. He couldn't take it. The princess was a maiden he had known for a long time. They grew up together, but she had become better than him after all these years.
When he went away a maiden on his level came along.
-Excuse me, sir! she shouted as she was running after him.
The man stopped and he let the girl catch up.
-What do you want me for?
-That girl... you don't need her... she panted
-What do you mean?
-I, will be your wife instead! I know i can do better than her.
The man had found happiness. He smiled, but the smile quickly turned into another frown.
-You may do better. But you're not the one i want.
The girl was shocked, the shock turned into sadness as she started the crying. The man walked away.
Why did the man not accept a girl who clearly loved her?
Wouldn't his life have been better with this girl in his life?
Those are questions i myself am wondering. And i have the answer.
How do i have the answers? And why am i wondering about it?
Because i am the man in the story.
And i yearn for another.
