Chapter 6: Confused

Satsuki was pulled from her thoughts as a certain ginger wobbled into the Paddy Wagon. Still feeling a bit out of it and confused from earlier, the woman decided to do something nice and helped the ginger get in better, sitting him beside her.

"Damn that guy... He hit me fucking hard..." Kagari groaned as he pressed a his rolled up blazar to the back of his head.

"With what?" Satsuki asked lightly as she glanced at the back of the mans head. She couldn't see the bump that was probably forming but she could see a bit of blood on his fingers, more than likely from when he came to.

"I dont know." Kagari grumbled as he pulled the jacket away from his wound and in front of him, seeing the faint traces of the crimson on the black of his jacket. "Fuck man..." He growled lightly before placing the rolled up jacket on his wound again, applying pressure to stop the bleeding.

Upon seeing the blood though, something spiked inside Satsuki, though only for a moment, before it disappeared. The woman's fingers absently curled around the edge of the seat as he stared at the floor. What was that?...

-Later at night-

Satsuki was unsurprisingly taken back to the facility, back into her medium sized, white room. Back to the normalcy she had grown so accustomed to. It was around 10:30pm and lights were out, signalling that she should've gone to bed. But she couldn't. Every time she tried all she could see was their faces. The faces of her younger siblings, matching pair of frightened beyond belief eyes. Pure terror that she caused...

So Satsuki simply sat at the edge of her bed staring at the music scores that she had pinned to the wall across from her, tapping her fingers on her thighs as if she was playing a piano.

"How was it? Being out of the facility."

The new voice suddenly reaching her ears made the woman look towards the glass wall, spotting Tachibana on the other side. She had put up her white lab coat she usually wore during the day and now revealed a dark blue tank top and black slacks. Beautiful black hair not in a bun and instead allowed it to fall over her shoulders and past her breasts, some of her bangs framing her face. The doctor slowly sat on the floor in front of the glass, a smile on her face as she held a bowl of grapes.

"It... it was a little weird... though pretty much what was expected of Sibyl's Enforcers and Inspectors." Satsuki smiled as she walked up to the glass and sat against the wall. She didn't want to make the woman worry, nor did she feel she was really ready to discuss the days events. "How was a whole day without me?" She smirked slightly, trying to change the point of attention away from her.

"It was, believe it or not, really boring." Tachibana said as she ate a grape. Tachibana had become Satsuki's personal therapist 4 years after a certain incident and before that she was Satsuki's best friend. She was the only normalcy from her old life that became a normalcy in the new one. At first many were apprehensive of allowing the woman to be near Satsuki, but after Tachibana began to bring them good results with Satsuki's psycho-pass they allowed it without complaint.

"Heh, so you do love me~" Satsuki joked as Tachibana only hummed with a roll of her eyes.

"Something's bothering you, isn't it? What happened today?" Tachibana suddenly asked as she ate another grape. Her suspicion was confirmed when she saw Satsuki's body go rigid.

"What are you talking about?" Satsuki asked, feigning puzzlement.

"You're acting more relaxed than usual and you haven't complained about the MWPSB unit group you were with." she stated, "Knowing you, you probably have a lot of complaints about them. Or at least opinions and impressions."

Satsuki couldn't help but look at the dark haired woman with a defeated and weary smile, "Heh, you know me too well Tachi.." She murmured before turning away and staring at the ceiling. "I remember when we were in middle school you used to color your hair that green just to look different like me, also you didn't have glasses then," She suddenly said. Only taking a side glance at Tachibana's bright golden brown eyes, "And how you were the most hyper and optimistic of all of us, Saki."

"We were kids..." Tachibana replied in defense. "Truth be told I just did it to get Kai's attention but he always like you more." She smiled fondly, remembering the past. "But tell me... Satsuki... What has gotten you to reminisce about the past?"

"I saw Kiyoko and Kyo today..." Satsuki stated softly, noting the small gasp that left her friend. "They were taken from their families by Hiroshi... all for something so stupid... He was hiding out at my house and I found the twins... as soon as they saw me they clung to me..." Satsuki said lightly, her hands absently balling up. "But before I left for the house, when I stepped off the paddy wagon, they happened to have parked in front of the park we used to hang out in." The woman continued, telling her doctor and closest friend everything about the day. From the hard stuff to the easy. Though she wouldn't doubt that her psycho-pass was shooting up just thinking about the days events.

"Oh Satsuki..." Tachibana said lightly as a sad expression crossed her features once Satsuki finished.

"Its nothing but I dont get why Ginoza didn't kill me." Satsuki mulled over it ever since she got into the paddy wagon. His dominator was set to eradicate her. To KILL her... Why didn't he do that? She got in the way and KILLED a man... That warrants her a death sentence right?

"Maybe God said no and made him change his mind." Tachibana suddenly said lightly as Satsuki looked at her with a confused and less than believing look. Watching the woman as she ate another grape, "Maybe it was a sign for you to join the MWPSB and become an Enforcer." she said.

"God wants me to be a searching Dog for Sybil? What kind of bullshit is that?" Satsuki growled.

"I've always thought of you as a fox... personally." Tachibana smiled. "You're keen, independent, sly, passionate, intuitive... I think you would make a little difference to what it means to be an Enforcer... be their fox. Show the Dogs how they should do it."

"What have you been smoking?" Satsuki asked incredulously.

"Nothing... but please... think about it.. Think about how you said you wanted to save people... back when we were kids... how you wanted to make a difference..."

Silence surrounded the both of them as Satsuki stood and put her hand on the glass, "685.5... my crime coefficient... Do you understand that the slightest thing could possibly make it spike and we could have the same things happen again? A massacre... anyone and everyone around me possibly in danger." Satsuki stated with a bored expression. It was engraved in her. That very fact was common knowledge. "And this time they will kill me on the spot." She put heavy emphasis on the words as she spoke them slowly.

"But that won't happen..." Tachibana said defiantly and a suddenly a flash of her when they were in middle school passed over Satsuki's vision making her eyes go wide, "You are strong Satsuki! if it weren't for your quick thinking and your impulsive behavior you and the PSB would've never figured out that it was Hiroshi and the twins would be dead. More would be on the line." She got up to the glass, "And I bet you that you can't look me in the eye and say you didn't enjoy just a little of the abnormality of it out of this Normalcy you always talk about accepting."

Satsuki only looked at her. Tachibana's piercing gold gaze staring into Satsuki's bright silver white one.

"...Why do you want me to become and Enforcer?.." Satsuki asked with slightly furrowed brows and a small, weary smile. She was confused... Tachibana made her thoughts rattle. Not only did Ginoza and Kougami confuse her by not killing her, but now Tachibana was encouraging her to become an enforcer. What was this world coming to?

Tachibana searched Satsuki's eyes before replying, "Because I believe you can make a difference... one no one else can..."

"Would you bet everything on that?..." Satsuki said a little above a whisper as she leaned her forehead on the glass, watching her doctor do the same, though her eyes closed and tears flowed freely from them.

"Yes..." Tachibana whispered.

With a deep sigh, Satsuki conceded. "Okay... I'll become an Enforcer... and I'll become an Enforcer that you'll be proud to call a friend... not a murderer..."
