"Caught anything yet?" Seokjin was staring at the back of Namjoon's violet hair, ears out to hear any footsteps closing in on them in the alley. Their leader's shoulder was rigid, muscles tense and nerves on edge. They all knew why.
Yoongi and Jungkook was caught.
"Nothing yet from the police, but we can wait for a few more second-" Hoseok's report was cut short by Taehyung who cupped his mouth, eyebrow jerking towards the entrance. One of the diner's cook was taking out the trash, and they all pressed closer to the wall.
Minutes passed by and he finally went back in. But not before the radio from inside the dinner crackles a name. Namjoon and the others whipped their heads at the closed door, the silence suddenly too deafening.
"Naomi... was spotted? In Omelas?" Seokjin unfolded his arms and frowned at the others, as if pleading for them to say yes. And Hoseok was the one who who answered his plea.
"She's the only Naomi in this town. It's her. At the Kim's Bakery, I heard it."
Taehyung looked at Namjoon. "That's not far from here! We can still catch up with her! Let's move out now."
"But what if it's a trap? To lure us out?" Hoseok counters. "They can spread shit like this just to play with us."
"It's Naomi! She's the only girl crazy enough to show herself like that. She must've wanted to send us a message."
"The risk is too big for something like a rumour of spotting, V!"
"Guys, it's Namjoon who gets to decide. What's your call, Joon?" Seokjin gulped as he stared at his feet before looking up.
"We'll move underground, and leave all our walkie-talkies behind. If Naomi is fine, then we'll pick her up and find the two next. After me." And they all dove after Namjoon into the manhole.
It took them some time, but Namjoon finally opened the lid nearest to the bakery and sneaked a peek. "Patrol 12 o'clock, three personage. Not safe to continue. She must have escaped before they even came here..."
"The lid..." Namjoon stared at the manhole lid in his hand. The three stared at their leader nervously. "What's with it?"
"V, open your flashlight. Find any markings on the wall, straight lines, dots, anything distinctive to the eye." He carefully lowered the lid and shoved a flashlight into the other's hands. "The lid is easy to remove. Someone had been here, and we're the only who knew this underground route."
It took the others a few minutes to comprehend. Well, running for your lives can dull other rational parts of your brain, since all you do 24/7 is trying to hide. And Hoseok was the one who broke the tranquil, like he always do.
"They all safe." Seokjin caught Hoseok's shoulder before he could crash to the ground. He was shaking, but a smile still crossed his lips.
A string of curse erupted from the darkness, and they all shone their flashlights towards the source: Taehyung, kneeling against the wall with a fist on it. Nothing was out of place, except for the creepy grin on his face. That really pedaled the gas on 'out of place' criteria.
"Those idiots are at the library. Naomi left us Morse code here. She even signed it," He added before Hoseok could counter his argument. They all stared at the ragged scratches and lines on the wall before promptly turning to their leader.
This time, Namjoon's face held a glow of hope. "Let's meet them there, shall we?"
And with just those words, the group's trudge down the tunnel held more liveliness in them.

Much to my disappointment, the library was deserted at the moment. They had some renovations made to the ground floor and had it strictly off-limits.
