He made it somehow. Despite my best efforts, he got through my hands. Now I cannot touch him since he is in the protection of his God. I would die one thousand deaths to bring him to our side.
I was standing next to a dark and seemingly bottomless pit, ringed by fire and my feet were burning yet refusing to burn. A voice shrieked out from the pit in response to my private musings.
“You are death itself and shamed beyond repair; defeated beyond victory. None fear your existence aside from those who are already on our side. A power, a concept which entices fear in its allies is a useless and pathetic one. You are shame and will forever be.”
He was very unhappy after that Man gave His life. I am death and was happy to accept His soul among our allies, how was I meant to know it was God Himself? My power is great but His is much greater so here I stand in the fires of Hell by the pit of Satan himself, the first offender. There sure is no light down in that pit; his own pit. He never comes out of it as if he can’t. What power does he have, stuck in a pit of his own making? He is the fool.
That shriek thundered out from the pit again. “You have as much disregard for their God as I do. To the eternal punishment you followed me along with my legion. Now, go out and bring me another ally seeing as you were so unfit to bring me the last one. Pernicious, you failure, bring me an ally and try harder this next time!”
The fool had spoken. Being referenced by name, or at least one of them, I was compelled to go out again. Despite leaving this torment, the world was a place of further suffering. Not only suffering caused by our allies but also unfortunate encounters with their God and His allies which served as the exact opposites of us. No legion could withstand even one good grace yet here I was, about to leave again into the battle zone to find an ally for the Lord of the Pit, for that’s what he was and that wasn’t changing anytime soon. With that final thought, I left one place of torment to enter another with the shriek from the pit to my back.
