*James's POV*

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. It was Monday and even though the kids had holidays, I had to work. But today, my office was opened just for healthy kids so that was positive.

I got up from the bed and into my bathroom, to get ready. The I took my work outfit - blue shirt and blue trousers. I got downstairs quietly for some breakfast and met Liam. "Morning." he said lazily, obviously not in the mood for his work. But I had to be happy because I work with kids. I just love my job.

After I ate something, I went to my office. My office is downstairs in the back of the house. There is a colourful waiting room, that me and my siblings decorated, with lots of toys and books. There are also two couches, some armchairs and a receptionist table. I heard the door open and saw my secretary and receptionist walk in.

Her name is Linda and we are great friends, we have been since pre-school. We alway dreamed about having our office together and it came true.

She hugged me and went to the toilet to get dressed. I walked back to my office which I loved. It was green and white with two tables with computers, a scale, a examination table and a few chairs, a big cupboard and some toys too. I put on my cloak and went back to the waiting room. "You can send patients in, Linda." I said seeing a few kids already and smiling at them.

"Hi Max! How are you?" I said to a four year old boy that came in my office, hiding behind his mom. Yes, I know all of my little patients names if someone might ask. "Hello Miss Jones." I said shaking his mother's hand. Max kept hiding behind his mom, but she picked him up and sat him on her lap while sitting down in a chair.

"Hey Max, it's just a little check-up, nothing to be worried about!" I said smiling at him. He soon took his head from his mom's chest and looked at me. I smiled bit more, "So Max, why don't you come with me and sit on the table over there," I said but soon as I saw him cling onto his mom even more I added, "Your mom will sit right here and look at you, okay?" He slowly nodded so I picked him up and put him on the table.

"Now Buddy, I will just listen to your heart a bit, then check you mouth, look at your stomach a little and we will be almost done." I said and he smiled a bit. "See, nothing to worry about." I tickled him a bit and he laughed some more. I pulled up his shirt and listened to his heart from the front and back and then put it back down. "Good job, Little man!" I said high-fiving him. "Now open your mouth widely and stick out your tongue for me, please."

He did as told and everything went by well. I picked him up, put him on the scale and measured his height and weight. "All great!" I said putting him back on the table, "Now lie down and pull up your shirt, I will just take a quick look at your stomach, okay?" He nodded happily and lied down.

In the mean time I sat by the computer and wrote everything in. "Did he suffer from any diseases in the past year?" I asked his mom. She shook her head. "No not at all." She answered smiling. I smiled back at her and went back to Max.

"Ready?" I asked him. He nodded so I pulled his shirt up a bit more, lowered his trousers a bit and put my hands on his stomach. I looked at his face the whole time I pushed on different places and then fixed his clothes and sat him up. "Everything is fine, you are as healthy as you can be." I told him smiling.

"Now," I began, holding his hand, "there is a little pinch that you will have to survive before you go, do you think you can do that for me?" I asked him. His eyes widened and he shook his head abruptly. "Maxy, there is nothing to worry about! It will be over before you know it, I promise." I picked him up, turned him around, placed him on his stomach on the table and lowered his trousers slightly. I prepared the needle and got back to him. "Ready?" I asked while rubbing some alcohol on the place. He sniffled but nodded and held onto my cloak. Then I injected him. "Owwiee!" I heard him say. "It's over, Big Boy! You can go home with mommy now!" I said high-fiving him again. "Tell the pretty lady behind the table that you were very brave and she will give you a sticker." I said and he ran off smiling.

"Thank you!" his mom said shaking my hand, "You know, they were incidents with some mean doctors before, so he was really scared to go here. I am very thankful and will recommend you to my friends for sure." I thanked her and closed the door behind her. This is why I love my job.

I examined a lot of kids before my lunch break. I always looked forward to the afternoon these days, because since Ed didn't have school, he helped me in the office.

After lunch, we both got in my office and he let the first kid in. "Come in." He told a woman with an eleven year old girl called Laura. "Hi Laura!" I said smiling at her and shook her mother's hand. "So, just a little pinch today, right? Nothing to worry about." I told her and looked at Ed, to let him know that I will go prepare the needle and he will help her up on the table.

"Come on Laura, let's get you up here!" He said to her smiling widely. She just started crying, so Ed wrapped her in a hug until her sobs quieted down. "Now, come and be a big girl, I will be there with you all the time, I promise!" I heard him whisper do her. Ed was really good with kids, that's why I loved when he helped me out.

She nodded, he placed her up on the table and sat next to her. He rolled up her sleeve, took a little peace of cloth and rubbed some alcohol onto her arm. "Ready, Sweetie?" I asked her with the needle behind my back. She looked at Ed, who smiled at her and she nodded slowly. Ed placed her on his lap, rolled up her sleeve a little more and I injected her arm. She winced in pain and cuddled closer to Ed. Then I put a little plaster on it and said "All done, young lady. You can go home."

She looked at us questioningly. "That was it?" she asked. We both nodded smiling at her widely. Ed then put her down and led her to Linda for a little sticker. I shook her mother's hand and sat behind my table to write everything in the computer. When Ed came back I told him "How do you do that? How are you so amazing with kids? I mean that girl obviously had a phobia of needles, but you just made that go away!" He just looked at me. "I think I'm going to be a doctor." He exclaimed and I smiled at him. "Well, send another patient in!" I said washing my hands. Oh, how much I love my job!
