Jack-o-lanterns were inspired by the grisly death of the last great pumpkin king. Jackol was decapitated during an invasion of his kingdom. The rebelling humans and torchkeys emptied his head, filled it with candles, and would parade it around Grayson, Kansas for the next decade.
