For a second, Harry was surprised he expressed his feelings towards Draco in front of his parents, and well, in front of Draco too.
He hoped that he wasn't angry with him, because truthfully, they hadn't actually talked about what was going on between them. It just happened. Then he realized he didn't care what his parents said or thought. Like he said, he didn't care who knew it, he was smitten with the Malfoy heir.
Lucius was watching him, and he cleared his throat, glancing from Draco and back at Harry."I see your feelings aren't an act for some certain gain from me, Draco, or the Malfoy name,"his stare was dead set on Harry,"Very well, don't expect me to be a fan of this, but I won't argue with you about this either,"Lucius sat back down and continued back to his dessert. Narcissa nodded, mostly to herself, probably agreeing to herself more than Lucius.
Harry and Draco glanced at each other, Draco had an expression he couldn't quite place, and he hoped to Merlin he wasn't angry. They both sat back down, Draco eating his own dessert, not looking up.
The atmosphere felt...odd. It felt heavy and tight. Harry didn't know what to say about it all, Lucius just accepted their relations, albeit reluctantly, but he allowed it nonetheless. Surely it couldn't have been his little speech about how brilliant Draco was? Truthfully, he could admit his undying love for the Prat Prince, but he Harry wasn't quite there yet. Like he thought before, Draco and him hadn't even had a chance to actually talk.
Still, he felt relieved, he could make out that emotion at the least, and Draco...what in Merlin could have been going on in his head?
~~
Liar. He was most definitely lying.
The look and dead stare he had on Harry said it all, he was not being truthful and Draco saw right through him. He saw it many times, many times in the memories he was so graciously returned.
The stare of pure lie. Perhaps in that stare Lucius saw a younger version of Draco. The younger version where he told the boy he'd have time for him after his 'important business' in his study. Where the little boy was forced to play on his own for a bit, or read a book quietly in the study.
Perhaps the entirety of it all wasn't all a lie. Lucius definitely wasn't completely happy, or more so, at all happy.
He didn't believe Harry. No, not completely.
If there was one thing Lucius Malfoy was used to, was being wanted for power and money, and naturally, his son would fall victim to the same sort of lot. So of course, he raised his son to not be a victim. Only the strong survived, and only the strong could overpower the weak.
Lucius Malfoy was not a victim, he was a hunter. Narcissa Black was neither hunter or victim, she was simply involved.
Draco was raised the hunter, and of recent times to the dismay of his father, he was the victim. His life was being threatened, and somehow Harry Potter was the one involved. The only deduction Lucius hadn't made was that Harry wasn't only the one involved, but he was also the messiah. Unfortunately for Harry, he was always burdened with the savior role, and lives always depended on him.
The only difference, was that this time Harry was willingly to be a savior. Draco's savior.
"Ahem, to the more important matter at hand..."
Draco almost jumped at the break of his father's voice in the silence being carried. Pulling him out of the waters that were his thoughts.
