"How have your studies been going, Killian?"
"Well—! Ah, erm... besides McGonagall's science lesson yesterday..."
Dumbledore chuckled, "Yes. I heard about that."
Killian sat down across from Dumbledore's desk. The professor looked down at him over his semi-circle lenses.
"And what is it you wanted to see me about?"
Killian looked around the room, wringing his hands.
"Ehm... It's a bit... strange, but I didn't know who else to ask... "
"Nonsense." Dumbledore said, taking a seat, "There is no 'strange'. Just different."
Killian sighed, trying to remember what he wanted to say.
"Well, it's just— my... my teeth... have been leaking."
...
"My, that is strange."
Killian slumped into his chair, "I know!"
"Curious..." Dumbledore muttered, leaning forwards onto his desk.
"And by.... 'leak'... do you mean...?"
"Yes—! Like— a liquid just comes out of them— my canines; here," Killian pointed, "It's usually when I'm eating... sometimes I can control it but sometimes I can't."
Dumbledore seemed to ponder this.
"Is this a wizard thing?" Killian asked, desperate to be reassured that he wasn't crazy— or perhaps dying of some strange, magical tooth disease.
"No... no, I can't say that I've ever heard of leaking wizard's teeth." the man replied.
Killian groaned in a mixture of frustration and worry. Dumbledore then seemed to be deep in thought, and Killian was begging Merlin for Dumbledore to have some kind of answer.
"So..." Killian said, after a moment, "You don't know what's wrong with me?"
"I wouldn't necessarily say something is wrong just because it is unheard of.... but, no." Dumbledore said, tone laced in curiosity.
The younger wizard tried to contain his frown.
"However, I do have something that may provide an answer." Dumbledore said thoughtfully, suddenly standing.
Killian watched as the professor walked to the corner of the room. Atop an engraved wooden desk, sat two square boxes. Dumbledore picked one up and began walking back over to Killian.
"When your mother and father passed, they had quite a great deal in their possession... Most of which was bestowed to you last year, as it was put into their vault at Gringotts and you received the key shortly after Hagrid discovered you in the forest."
Dumbledore sat the first box down onto his desk.
"However, seeing as your parents had a knack for experimental potions... The Ministry of Magic was quite interested in their work."
The professor grabbed the second box.
"Upon their deaths, the Ministry collected a few of their unfinished studies— journals, potion recipes, observation notes...... and stored them to research. It took a bit of convincing, but I was able to obtain some of it."
