CHAPTER 1• REBECCA STONE POV.

Five year's.

That's how long I've been working for King Industry's and Co. Five years of sweat, blood and tears that I put into finally getting somewhere in this company.

I could've gotten to the top, the first day I stepped into the office but I was determined not to fuck my way to the top. As tempting as it is, I couldn't live with myself if I did.

And when I finally got offered COO at the company, it blew my mind. My excitement since that day a week ago has been through the roof. I was so happy you could see it in my work. Reflecting nothing but pure happiness that my hard work is paying off.

"Ms Stone" a sweet voice said. I looked up and met the eyes of my PA. Mrs Charles. "Yes?"

"Mr King would like you to meet him in this office" she spoke smiling.

"Thank you" I said as I got up, straightening my pencil skirt out.

I walked out of my office, making sure to close the door behind me. I walked down the long hallways, past most of the employees as they work, rushing around to get the days work done. When I finally reached his office, my heart beat increased. Suddenly I was nervous to hear what he had to say.

I took one deep breathe in as I opened his office door.

"You wanted to see me sir" I said politely as I walked in.

Mr King turned in his chair. It was no lie that Malcolm King was a player back in his days. And even with his age of turning 57 in two days. Basically this Friday. He is a handsome man. His salt and pepper hair colour, only compliment him, his was not like every other 57 year old man, no Malcolm King was very buff and healthy. If you looked at him at first glance you wouldn't believe his age. Mrs King died two years ago, and it took a big toll on Malcolm. But he moved on and I was happy but the woman he took was some young money hungry bimbo, but if she makes him happy, then....

"Come on Rebecca, we basically family, even when you just started you knew Mara only liked you" he said referring to his ex-wife.

"Um thanks" I said looking everywhere but at him.

"But" he cough putting on a smile. "I just wanted to let you know that you are required to attend my old man party on Friday night" he said laughing slightly.

I laughed with him, relaxing and happy that we weren't stuck in that sad times. "I wouldn't miss it"

"Good" he smiled "I'll be introducing my business partners to you there"

And I walked out of his office smiling like creep on crack.
