•Chapter 4• REBECCA STONE POV.
There he stood, in all his handsome glory. His ears still pierced, his eyes still deepening and filled with emotions. His hair pulled back like always, his crisp Armani suit that clung to his muscular bodice. And those lips that I just want- No. And yet there he stood with a smirk that got my stare attached to his lips.
Adrian fucking King.
"Hello becca" he teased.
I rolled my eyes at his stupidity. "Its Rebecca and Ms Stone, to you" I smiled sweetly.
"I believe I am older than you Ms Stone" he stated
Before I could answer, Mr King or Malcolm spoke up half laughing at the two of us.
"Okay children" he stated making sure we understood that he was in fact older and well respected "stop and let's enjoy my birthday"
I gave Adrian one last look over, before turning back to Malcolm "ofcause, so sorry"
He shook his head at me but looked at Adrian, half smirking as Adrian only winked back. "Behave"
Adrian held up his hands in mock surrender. I couldn't help it, but the King's boys bloodline truly have good gene.
Adrian King was known as the most eligible bachelor in the whole of New York city. But was, was a keyword. When his handsome self got told that in two year he'll be taking over the Long industries he married Alicia Cory, now known as Alicia King.
But as far as I knew their marriage was only a publicity stunt. Or more that was i try and tell myself.
There was no denying that I was jealous of Alicia King but I got over the most part. She truly is the definition of beautiful. There was absolutely nothing wrong with her. She wasn't fake nor was she hateful. And I was glade that after all this year's he moved on. And he was happy.
But was I?
My phone rang, breaking me from my train of thought. Slipping my phone out of my clutch. I headed towards Tue bathroom seeing that the caller ID showed Calvin.
"Whats wrong?" I asked worried.
Calvin's my older brother, he never phone's unless something happened or he thinks it important.
"They broke in"
I felt the whole happy mood that I was in disappear into thin air. A frown made its way onto my face. Just when you think you'll get a break, life comes around and knocks you down.
Tears filled my makeup eyes. I ended the call after telling Calvin I'm on my way. Rushing out of the ladies bathroom I bumped into someone loosing my balance. Preparing myself for the hard floor but I felt a strong grip around my waist, stopping the floor from connecting to my face. With my hands on the strangers chest, I refused to look up, my make up was most probably ruined and I had a small fear that the stranger might just be a married man, and this is the last way I want him to see me.
"Becca what's wrong?" He thick toe curling voice asked.
Really luck, not on my side once again!?
"Nothing, I have to go"
I tried to get out of his grip but he only tightened it.
"Rebecca, you can always tell me anything" he spoke softly, putting his finger under my chine and lifting my head so that my eyes now connected with his.
His eyes always made me relax, because I could tell his feeling, his pain, heartache and even see his happiness. But at this moment his eyes held to much emotion and they were clouded with something I couldn't discover.
"I'm sorry but you should ask your wife how's she feeling" I spoke hurtful
As I finally broke free from his hold. I ran out of that hotel, that ballroom crying and feeling all kinds of emotions, not just about someone breaking in but about Adrian and his messed up feelings.
