Selena, Katie, and I were constantly pushed and shoved around. We were shoulder to shoulder with strangers seeing our favorite band. Every once in a while the music would get so loud and we’d just forget about everything outside that specific moment in time, and in addition to losing ourselves, we’d occasionally lose each other. We’d drift a few yards away from each other for a few seconds, and realize, then join back together without a care at all.

The concert must’ve been about 20 minutes in when I got my text from Liam, “Sorry for the delay, be there soon :) xxx” It was way too loud to even attempt saying anything to my friends, so we playfully passed my phone around reading the text over and over. It would be the second time I’d met Liam, but my first meeting the rest of his band mates. They were making an appearance in town at a charity concert, and thankfully they were able to hang out after without getting scolded by Paul.

It was set that I’d be moving to London later that year to live with my sister, Danielle, by this point, so it was a well-needed introduction. The only problem was Harry. Liam and Danielle knew we’d definitely get along really well, which was the problem. In the days leading up to our meeting, Danielle was practically warning me about him. Neither Liam nor my sister thought we would last long if they ever let us date, so they did all they could to avoid the two of us having broken hearts.

Soon after I got another message from Liam, “We’re in! Where in the world are you girls?!!” I responded quickly telling him to find us on the left side of the front of the stage. I strategically wore one of Danielle’s shirts that I’d stolen from her over her winter holiday as well so he’d be able to find us. And we were bubbling with excitement and frantically jumped up and down to see if we could catch their eyes as they came toward us, but we had no luck. We couldn’t see them anywhere.

Those 20 seconds waiting for the boys to find us couldn’t have felt any longer, but before I knew it, I felt someone’s arms wrap around my waist and swing me about. I couldn’t contain myself, and was literally screaming “Liam! Oh my god you scared me!” I yelled. He laughed loudly and gave me a massive bear hug.

Liam had definitely gotten fitter since the last time I saw him at Christmas. He’d cut his hair, his shoulders were broader, and overall his features looked exponentially less boy-ish. I wasn’t expecting to be so surprised at how much hotter he’d become, but it was kind of hard to ignore.

Niall, Louis, Zayn, and Harry cheekily emerged from behind Liam as carefree and ridiculous as any average teenage boys, and all my nerves flew away. Niall was the first to introduce himself, “Hey I’m Niall! And this is Louis, Zayn, and well, we all know you know Harry” They all laughed, and my eyes met Harry’s. He winked and I laughed realizing how hard it would be to avoid liking him.

As the night went on, Harry and I got closer, which was to be expected. On one hand we both sensed the hesitation between us to do so, but on the other we honestly didn’t care at this point what Liam and Danielle wanted for us. After a few tense looks from Liam, he pulled me aside, “You know you and Harry are a bad idea right?” He said as he ran his fingers through his hair. I knew from Danielle that he always did this when he was frustrated, even with his new short cut. “You two are just way too alike, and I know both of you, and eventually one of you is just gonna get bored and break the other’s heart” he said with a sigh.

It was one of those times when I’d become the kid again. No one would ever trust me to make any decisions myself because they all always know better. And I always end up pissing everyone off cause I end up doing whatever it is they try and prevent me from doing, just to prove them wrong. Just as I was about to respond, Harry appeared with a cheeky smile on his face, knowing what conversation he was interrupting. “So you’re not sharing anymore Liam? I thought you already had your own girlfriend!” He said laughing at how funny he knew he was. I laughed too, but quickly regretted it.

Once I felt Harry’s hand wrap around in mine and pull me back into the crowd, I honestly didn’t care what anyone thought about my actions. I’d completely forgotten about anything before that moment, and being carefree and living in the moment with him was better than any other situation I could’ve been in.
