When they woke in the morning the storm was over and the sun shone into the cave entrance. Finn's daughter showed up midmorning with her two polar bears and a wonderful sleigh fit for a true Snow Queen. She was totally charming to the boys.
"Father, you must introduce me to these lovely boys," she said after taking her own look in on Bekma. Her polar bears followed her into the cave, because she had unharnessed them, but they laid down and went to sleep right away. Her hair was whiter than the polar bear's fur. She looked no more than thirty years old but was indeed ageless. Her eyes had white irises, but she was not blind.
"Let them introduce themselves," said Finn. smiling.
"I'm Deearo, and I'm Bekma's oldest apprentice," said Deearo, "and though we are not born brothers, Dalbreath and I really are brothers in spirit."
Dalbreath smiled at that, for he felt the same was about Deearo. "I'm Dalbreath, and I'm the youngest Mage to ever be allowed to go to Mage School. I'm even younger than Oswaa was when he went."
"Ah, Oswaa, now there was a Wizard," said Finn's daughter. "Well, I am Theona, daughter of Finn, and that is no small thing," she said, proudly.
"No, it isn't," said Bekma, surprisingly, and with some difficulty.
"Bekma!" yelled the boys, and were about to pile on top of him, but Finn stopped them.
"Easy boys," said Finn. "I recommend a low level of excitement until he's properly healed."
Theona smiled. "Bekma, I remember you, from a long time ago, when I traveled the world and knew people.
"I remember you too, Theona, daughter of Finn MacCoomal. You were one of Talissin's students, on the Isle of Ys, seventeen hundred years ago or more."
"Take it easy, Bekma. I recommend no talking until those muscles in your stomach have healed properly," said Finn.
The boys laughed. "May as well ask a cat, not to meow than ask Bekma not to talk," said Dalbreath.
They all laughed, even Bekma, though painfully.
"What about your mother, Dalbreath," said Bekma, "she will kill me. We were supposed to meet on Eslor this morning."
Dalbreath looked sad. "I dreamt of her last night, but she couldn't hear me because of the storm."
"I can fix this," said Finn.
"How," said Dalbreath. "she's thousands of miles away."
"And how did you get here?" said Finn.
"I don't know how I did that," said Dalbreath.
"I do," said Theona, "you relied on NaGoeVoDaa."
"I rely on him for every single thing that Finn MacCoomal needs," said Finn.
"Can you bring her here?" said Dalbreath.
"In the twinkling of a snowflake," said Theona, and then there was a light energy between Theona and Finn, and a light portal opened and when it closed there stood Maurinn and Mauriel, staring into Mauriel's crystal ball, both dressed in winter clothes.
"Mommy!" cried Dalbreath.
"Mrs. Efaltel!" cried Deearo, "It's so good to see you."
"Maurinn," said Bekma, and then, "that really is enough talking for me."
"I should think so," said Finn, coming over to change his bandages.
"Oh thank the One," said Maurinn, running over to smother the boys in kisses and hugs. Mauriel set down her crystal ball and ran over to hand out some hugs and kisses of her own.
