Chapter 4.

A Few Nights Later
Ralph sat up onto the dry leaves he was previously laying on. He quietly stood and tip toed through the shelter before making it outside. Ralph walked to the side and peeked around the hut.

Ralph: Simon...?

Simon: Over here.

Ralph walked into the forest quickly spotting Simon. Smiling when he saw Simon's tired but cheery expression.

Ralph: Sorry we had to wake you up...

Simon shook his head.

Simon: It's fine... meeting platform?

Ralph nodded at the boy.

Ralph: Meeting platform... that way we'll be somewhere significant and we won't be taking the conch anywhere too distant...

Simon nodded and followed Ralph. Once they got to the platform Ralph was surprised to find Roger.

Ralph: Um, Roger what are you doing here...?

Simon poked his head next to Ralph's.

Simon: I asked him to come. You and Jack ought to have at least one witness and someone to marry you. Roger won't tell anyone either...

Ralph sighed in relief and looked to Roger.

Roger: I'll marry you two, Simon'll be the witness...

Ralph nodded as he saw Jack walking up. Jack stood still when he saw Roger.

Ralph: It's okay, he promised not to tell anyone.

Jack sighed in relief. The group got set up. Simon sat down crossing his legs as Roger placed the conch on a rock in between the two boys. Jack reached his hand out and took Ralph's, looking into his eyes.

Roger: Uh... sorry if this isn't too good, I don't know much about this...

Roger felt his anxiety vanish as he saw Simon give him a reassuring smile.

Roger: Right, so... the, four of us, are gathered here tod-tonight for the- Uh, union of these two boys. Jack Merridew and Ralph...-

Ralph: Walters.

Roger nodded and continued.

Roger: And Ralph Walters. Now uh... I guess you two exchange vows?

Ralph: I think so... should I start?

Jack shrugged.

Jack: If you want to.

Ralph took a deep breath.

Ralph: Jack, I've been on this island with you for five years, and we've been rivals until several months ago. And, when we started spending time together, I always got this weird feeling 'round you. Then you asked me what I wanted six months ago, I immediately thought of you. I mean yeah you annoyed me and had no interest in following the rules when I first met you. But, now that I know you're entire personality, I've really warmed up to you, which obviously developed into a romantic interest. I mean, you're not bragging about being able to sing C# anymore...
