We had to wake up at 12 am this morning, so we could make our 2 o'clock flight. My best friend is getting married in a few days, and she is having her wedding in Barcelona, Spain. "Are you almost ready?" I asked Nate impatiently. "I'll be down in a second," he says.
We finally made it to the airport and are now seated on the plane. I always fly in first class. Because Drew owns this airline, my tickets are free. "Do we always have to fly first class?" Nate complains. "There's nothing wrong with it and plus the tickets are free for us," I say annoyed. "Like who complains about riding in first class," I say. "Wake me up when we land," he says flatly.
When we land, we are greeted at the airport by our drivers. "A Rolls Royce. Was it really necessary for you to order this car? You could have ordered any other car. I don't understand why you have to be so extra sometimes. And before you start, yes I do own some expensive cars, but I don't feel the need to be flashy with them. You do this all the time?" He finishes lastly. "Since this is such a problem, I'll just order a different car or we can take a taxi," I say highly irritated. "It's fine since you have already ordered it," he says reluctantly.
After about 25 minutes, we arrive at the rented house. "Laila!" I scream and run to hug her. "I'm so glad you could make it," she says excitedly. "I'll show you two to your room," Laila says. "This house came with an entire staff, so if you need something just ask. Well I'll see you both at dinner," she says before she leaves.
In the evening, everyone staying in the house meets for dinner. "Camila. I thought you weren't coming until tomorrow," Jessica says. Jessica is my other best friend, but Laila is the one getting married. "I decided to come a day earlier". "Oh, hey Nate," Jessica says. "Hey," Nate says dryly. These two never get along. It's a blessing if the two even act civilized around each other.
Dinner is absolutely delicious. "My I make a toast to my beautiful fiance" Daniel says. Daniel is more of a geeky tech guy, who has done well for himself, but he isn't bad on the eyes. Laila is a ball of energy and very sociable; she is a fashionista at that. I guess it's true when they say opposites attract. "Laila you have given me the best few years of my life, and I hope you make the rest of it just as great," he says. He's such a sweet guy.
When dinner is over, everyone heads to the living room to play some games. We play charades first. Then we play 'Never have I ever'. "Never have I ever ran a red light". Everyone takes a shot of tequila on that one. "Never have I ever cheated with a married person". Jessica and Tony both take a shot. After an hour, a lot of information was revealed that none of us knew about each other. Most of us were pretty much drunk, and decided to call it a night.
I roll over to see if Nate is still in bed, but he isn't. He probably went for his morning jog. When I go down stairs, breakfast is being served.
After breakfast, I decided to take a tour of the city. Out of all the times I have been to Spain, I've never been to Barcelona. I shop a little and stop to eat at a little cafe. 'Ring'. "Hello", I answer my phone. "Your are in Spain right now? Correct," Drew asks. "Yea,why?" I question. "I have a meeting with John Perez at 4 pm and I need you to be present," he finishes. "I am here for my friend's wedding and for a mini vacation, and you're dragging me to a meeting. Just the other day you teased me about not having any down time," I say. "Well business is business. You know how demanding running a business can be. You can't tell me you weren't planning on doing work or working while in Spain. Even when I go on vacation I still have to work," he says. "Fine," I huff. "Send me the directions".
