Chpt 2: Apocalypse Again
(Short flashback)It was a normal day in the outpost, y/n was reading the same book she's read a million times. She didn't even like reading, and the fact that she reads everyday in the outpost should tell how boring it is. Coco was particularly snappy on this day and Mallory was trying to do her best keeping her friend, if you could even call them friends, calm. Y/n Lolita DeVill was no ones Bitch, so when coco tried to snap at her she didn't hesitate to give her hell back.
"Your in my seat, freak." Coco sassed and spoke with disgust. Y/n glanced up at the blonde woman and smirked before looking back down to her romantic novel. She slowly shut the book, placing it down beside her.
"Move me." Y/n's head tilted to the side ever so slightly.
"Mallory, move her. Now." Y/n watched as the shy girl stuttered and shook her head no. She nodded knowing neither of them had the balls to try and remove her from the spot she always sat in.
"That's what I thought. Look coco puffs, I don't have time for your bullshit today; or ever so go somewhere else. I won't hesitate to rip your throat out, you pompous ass." Gallant laughed leaning against the door frame.
Then it was quiet. Everyone sat listening to the same song that played everyday. Then that's when things started changing, there was a breach. They were all told to wait for a guest and that's what they did. Then a man who stood tall, his hair was to his shoulders and his aura screamed intimidation. Y/n watched the man with a cold stare, he looked familiar but she couldn't put your finger on it. She looked over to Coco and Gallant who's body language yelped lust. She rolled her eyes.
"My name is Langdon, and I represent The Cooperative.
I won't sugarcoat the situation. Humanity is on the brink of failure. My arrival here was crucial to the survival of civilized life on Earth. The three other compounds In Syracuse, New York, Beckley, West Virginia, and San Angelo, Texas have been overrun and destroyed. We've had no contact from the six international outposts, but we are assuming that they, too, have been eliminated." His voice was strong, and gentle. She has to curse herself mentally for already being infatuated with a man she barely met.No matter how important the topic was she found herself getting lost in her thoughts. How did he survive? Why was he so important that he decided if they would live or not? She didn't like the idea of fighting for survival and leaving people, she's been forced to live with, alone to be eaten by rabid cannibals or worse.
"It's rude to space out when people are talking. Miss DeVill, since you can't help but let your pretty little mind wonder, you'll be my first interview. Follow me."
The two sat in front of each other, y/n felt as if Langdon was looking into her soul. It made her uncomfortable and fidgety. She waited for Langdon to ask her questions, but it seemed like he was focused of something else.
"I don't mean to be rude, but can you ask your questions, sir?" Y/n tilted her head.
"You're right, I'm stalling. So, if you were chosen to go to the sanctuary what would be your purpose?"
"What? Do you want me to say some bullshit sap story to make you pity me? Look, I'm useless and I don't know what I can actually do til I get there. Guess it's just a waiting game, huh?" Langdon laughed and gave y/n a heart stopping smile.
"I can show you what you're made of, y/n. Let me show you." He walked around the table and grabbed her hand.
And she did.
