Chapter 3

Ida Skye's POV-

I gulped loudly at the harsh look printed on his face.

"A good 30 minutes late Ida." He spoke in an unfriendly tone.

"I'm s-s-sorry" I stuttered back in response, not even caring that he called me Ida.

"Save it." He said firmly.

I seriously didn't know what to do with my self.

I've never really been a Daddy's girl, yet he's never spoken to me like this before.

I fiddled with my fingers, not knowing where to look or what to do.

"Look I'm sorry!" I spoke up. "As soon as Jame- Beta James, told me that you wanted to see me I started making my way to your office but I bumped into Myles and coffee went every where and I had to shower and-"

"Ida I have to retire."

I stared at him.

His face emotionless.

What the heck?

Sympathy raided my body and my mind.

'Ask him why Skye!' My wolf howled

I blocked her out almost immediately.

"w- why?" I asked him, trying to sound as gentle as I possibly could.

He stood up from his chair, his face blank.

After clearing his throat he finally spoke up...

"The rouge attack, a few weeks back. We- well as you know it was deadly, and I suffered an injury to my back."

I listened intensively as he continued.

"I just can't do things like I used to. Running and shifting is hard and painful, I'm struggling fighting and..."

A tear fell down my face.

Followed by another, and another, and before I know it I'm crying my eyes out.

"Look, Ida, I need you to be strong!" He told me, his tone of voice blank yet carrying a hint of encouragement.

"...I'm retiring, and so is my Beta." He paused for a moment before proceeding.

"Myles is James' only child, so he will be our new Beta, and since you're my only child, well..."

His big green eyes stared into mine.

My body froze in fear as I knew exactly what he was going to say.

"Ida Skye... you are the new Alpha."
