*The Next Night*
"See, Eggsy, it's fun to take a walk after work," I swing Eggsy and my clasped hands as we walk through the park with our dogs trotting ahead on leashes. "The temperature is almost perfect, and I love seeing the stars."
"Sometimes I just like to snuggle up with you after a long day, watching stupid TV shows," Eggsy gives my hand a squeeze. "Or get it on if we both feel up to it. Or work out for a little while if I didn't during the day."
"This is working out. Not hard working out, but it does get your blood pumping, and we can talk while we do it."
"I do like talking to you, darling."
I giggle, "And I like talking to you, babe."
"Do you have anything you would like to talk about?"
"Hm, I don't think so. I'm just really happy right now with all that has happened. I have a lovely boyfriend, two amazing dogs, a great job, and everything has fallen into place. Nothing can ruin this moment. Not even another crazed man like Valentine could ruin this. I love life, for the first time since my mother died. I feel like I am right where I need to be."
"I'm glad you feel that way," Eggsy pulls me into his side, letting go of my hand so he can put his arm around me shoulders. "I am glad that I am able to make you feel that way, and that these past couple of years have been the best of your life. I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't come into my life when you did. I'm so happy that you decided to stick by my side for so long. I know it baffles others how you've stuck with me for so long, but I know how much you love me. They will never understand that. We are closer than any two people, and that bond can never be broken."
"As long as I stay by your side, I think I'll always feel this way."
"Do you want to elope then?" Eggsy seriously asks.
"Are you asking me to marry you?" I look up at my boyfriend.
"I love you and want to be with you for the rest of my life."
"Then we shouldn't elope," I look back at our dogs. "I want a wedding, in a church, with my dad to walk me down the aisle. Daisy as the flower girl, Roxy as my maid-of-honor, and Katie one as well."
"We'll keep waiting then. I don't have a ring either, so I need to go out and get one. Until then, please give me ideas for rings because I have no fucking idea what to get. I don't understand the different rings, so you have to point me in the right direction."
I giggle, "You don't have to go crazy. Anything you pick out I will love. Maybe get a diamond that is some crazy color. That's as crazy as you can get."
We go silent as we continue to walk through the park. A calm washing over me, and I feel like the best is yet to come. Especially if Eggsy finally has a serious thought about marrying me.
"What's that?" Eggsy's voice pulls me out of my thoughts. "Do you see those lights racing across the sky?"
I look up, seeing five red lights racing across the sky. They're too fast to be form an airplane, and too bright to be a shooting star. They look to be on course to hit something. I would be surprised if it were some military test that the government failed to tell its citizens.
"Those don't look good," I pull us to a stop. "Something bad is going to happen. I can feel it."
In the next few moments, we watch the dots head towards town. Then, on after another, they hit something that must be buildings, causing huge explosions.
