Thomas was right it ruined a lot of Hamilton's reputation, it almost ruined his marriage but it just made Thomas and Alexander closer. Thomas comforted Alex and showed how thankful he is, they still wrote letters. They wrote to each other more then they see each other as it was safer that way. Their love was growing stronger then ever and it was hard to keep it secret.
The romance that used to look like lust to Thomas now looks like love, he didn't feel bad as much.
But tragedy followed. A lot of tragedy.
After Alexanders son tragically died in a duel Alexander found comfort in Thomas but also his wife. Which he was spending less time with but still he was with her, and claimed to love her.
It was peaceful until the election, election of 1800, the faithful election. Thomas ran for president, this time his only problem was Burr who's popularity was growing, and he managed to charm the people to his side. They were tied in votes... Until Alexander came foreword "Jefferson has beliefs, Burr has none".
Burr was furious, he knew about Thomas and Alexander but he didn't know it continued. His rage and jealousy got the better of him and he challenged Alexander to a duel, he won, but the cost was Alexanders life.
Thomas didn't take it well at all. He might have seemed like he was surprised and like he was paying respect but really he was in deep grief. He struggled so much. He missed Alexander, he missed his love letters, he missed their nights together. But he managed knowing Alexander wouldn't have wanted him in pain. He patiently awaited the day he would join him....
