The Blood Eagle was a method of torture that was used by the Vikings. It was mainly done for shock value. The skin on your back would be sliced open, exposing your ribcage. Your ribs would be snapped and pulled back, making it look like you had blood-stained wings. Then, your lungs would be dragged out and left hanging outside of your body while you slowly suffocated.
