Raina's POV
Khaleesi was such a calm baby. She was sweet, and so precious, and sleeping most of the time. That was a plus. I was lonely on the nights that Jeff wasn't around, so I had been letting Ashe and Khaleesi sleep in my room. Khaleesi had a small bassinet that I'd pull close to the edge of the bed, and Ashe would sleep on Jeff's side. But, my mother had taken Ashe for the weekend, leaving Leesi and I to wait for Daddy.
Jeff was hands down the most amazing person I'd ever met in my life. I thought I was smitten with Monty? Negative. Jeff was literally good to me in every aspect of the word. He helped out with Ashe and Khaleesi both, took care of me, and managed to keep his grades up and play baseball. He was an excellent multitasker.
It had only been 5 days since I had Leesi, and I was already missing how it felt to have sex. I knew I couldn't, just because it was still so early, and we needed to wait at least 4-6 weeks. That sucked. But, I was still excited to see him, and show him a good time for being so good to me.
Jeff and I had only been together two months, but I was more in love with him than I'd ever been in my life, with anyone, besides my kids. He had been so fucking good to us, and good to me, I don't know how I got so lucky to have him. I had never been so sure of any one human being in my life.
Monty had made me extremely skeptical of anyone, but Jeff was a totally different man than he was. He put me first, me and my children came before anything, and that was the most redeeming quality about him. I loved him more than I ever thought possible after such an awful heartbreak. I was patiently waiting for him to be done with class and head to me, which he was late.
R: are you okay babe?
J: I'm fine babygirl, I'll be heading your way shortly. I had some business to attend to ;)
R: ..what kind of business
J: the good kind. I'll see you in 20
R: okay...
J: I LOVE YOOOOU
R: I love you more Jeff <3
And in 18 minutes exactly, I heard Jeff's pull in. He was singing on his way to the door, completely oblivious to anything going on around him. I was feeding Leesi, the two of us in bed as she calmly took her bottle, not even crying when I'd take it away to burp her. Jeff paused in the doorway, grinning from ear to ear. "I've missed my girls." He whispered, coming to the bed and kissing me, then planting a kiss on Leesi's head of dark hair. He snuggled in the bed next to me, motioning for me to hand her over, and I did gently, Khaleesi opening her eyes at the sound of Jeff's voice. She loved him already. I knew she was smart enough to know this wasn't Monty's voice, but she loved Jeff's voice just the same.
"I'm making you dinner tonight." He said softly, his eyes never leaving Khaleesi. I inwardly jumped for joy. I was not in the mood to cook. Not when I'd been running around like crazy, trying to keep the house clean, trying to keep Khaleesi happy, and take care of myself. "I'm looking forward to it. If you want to put her in the swing downstairs, I'm gonna hop in the shower. I smell like formula." I laughed, and he rolled his eyes. "You smell like newborn baby. It's fine. Go shower. I'll meet you downstairs."
I set off down the hall to take a much needed shower, soaking up every droplet of hot water the faucet had to offer. I shaved everywhere, still shocked I could reach my legs. Most of my baby weight was gone, and since I'd kept vitamin E oil on my belly practically my whole pregnancy, there wasn't a stretch mark in sight I decided I was squeaky clean, wrapping my hair in a towel and my body in one as well, heading back to the bedroom to put clothes on. I decided on a pair of skinny jeans and one of Jeff's quarter length Liberty baseball shirts.
I decided to let my hair air dry, making my way downstairs. Jeff had already started dinner, chopping up peppers and onions like a pro. I wrapped my arms around him from behind, delivering a kiss to his neck before he turned around to face me. "You are so freaking gorgeous, look at you!" He beamed, dramatically twirling me around, kissing me in pure satisfaction. I struck a playful pose, asking what I could help with. He gave me a horrified look.
"Oh, no. I know your games, Raina Giselle. You come in here, all cute and innocent trying to help after I already said I'm doing this for you and I usually always give in, but not this time. Find something to do for the next hour. I've got this." He said over his shoulder, and I playfully pouted. "I think I'll have a drink." I decided, pouring myself a glass of Pinot Grigio and making my way to the living room. Khaleesi was sleeping peacefully in the swing, which had long since stopped moving.
I flipped on the television, sipping my wine, flipping on the Xbox. I decided to play a little Overwatch, since Clay and Alex had me hooked on it. I'd played about 5 matches when I realized Jeff was standing in the threshold of the living room, watching with a look of satisfaction plastered to his gorgeous face. "You're really good at that, babygirl." He stated, and I giggled. It was my favorite game, I played it whenever I got a free moment. "Dinner's done." He announced, and I rushed for the kitchen, starving.
He'd made grilled chicken fajitas, which he knew were my favorites. I thanked him, and we ate mostly in silence, other than small talk about school. We were both famished, and by the time we were finished, neither of us felt like doing this dishes, so we decided to leave them for tomorrow. "Movie?" I questioned, and he nodded, and we transferred Leesi from her swing to her crib, flipping on the baby monitor in both rooms, so we could listen for her.
"She should be asleep for a while," I muttered, climbing into bed next to Jeff as he searched through Netflix. We decided on a rom-com, both of us more interested in cuddling and loving on each other than the movie. Halfway through, my wine kicked in, and I gave him an extremely sloppy blowjob, which he very much enjoyed, raving on about it ten minutes or so after I'd finished.
"I love you so much." He gushed, peppering my face with kisses, before getting up and finding his jacket. "I got you something." He whispered, and I looked at him curiously.
"What is it?" I questioned, and he took a deep breath. "I just want you to know, it's okay if you say no. It's fine. But I know this is the right thing to do; I know this is what we're supposed to do. I know that I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with you, and that we're supposed to be a family. I knew all these things a long time ago. So.. We have the house. We have the baby. All that's left is to give you my last name. Will you marry me, Raina?"
I didn't even glance at the ring when I said yes. I didn't even know what it looked like until after he slid it on my finger. A gorgeous, silver solitaire diamond ring, dainty and perfect on my finger. I admired it, tears streaming down my face. I was going to marry Jeff Atkins!
