Chapter 20
The room once again filled. This time there were even more people joining the audience. Some even had to stand it was that packed. The energy in the room was electric. Everyone was excited that there was going to be a new King or Queen. People had heard that Prince Nathan and Prince Alexander were running for King but it would be a total surprise to practically everyone about Lissa. Guardians started filling into the room after hearing that Liss was now on the council. The herald once again stood up. "This council session is once again in order." Everyone grew silent. "We shall listen to the policies that have been prepared by the people running for King and Queen." Everyone gasped at the 'queen' part. "Prince Alexander Voda shall go first followed by Prince Nathan Ivashkov and finally Princess Vasilisa Dragomir." The hairs on my arms stood up. I was fidgeting around and the room was filled with talk. No one could believe that in just over an hour the Princess was let onto the council and was now running for Queen. Lissa sat up and smiled at the audience.
Prince Alexander then stood up and the room feel quiet.
"The policies I would like to bring to the table are extra guardians whilst outside of the Royal Court's boundaries to ensure better protection for Moroi." A few people cheered but not many. The guardians shook there heads. "I would also like for our schools to be better protected and have more security put into them." That was all well and good day that but all the security in the world wouldn't keep out a Strigoi if one managed to get passed the wards. Alexander went on and on talking about all the things he wanted but which were unrealistic. He listed off one by one all of the things that would probably never pass the council so his policies were just a complete waste of time. When he had finished everyone clapped politely. Some stood up and cheered but once again this was a minority.
Prince Nathan Ivashkov then stood up at the front. He didn't say anything for a minute waiting for the room to grow silent. I think it was for show so that people would actually consider him as a King. Since he was halfway to becoming an alcoholic I decided that he wouldn't get my vote even if Liss wasn't running for Queen. "I would like to start off my saying that I have been around many years and have a hell of a lot more life experience that some of my opponents." I looked at Lissa and she just smiled whilst shaking her head. "I agree with Prince Alexander on one thing. There should be more protection for the Moroi and that therefore means we need more guardians. I would like to propose to the Moroi that we do not let the Dhampir communities go on with there lives without protecting us. I think it is a small price to pay considering we are the reason that there race still exist." A man nearby started to cheer. I think everyone was pretty shocked at how Nathan had put his first idea across but I had to admit it did get the attention of the audience. "I think that the bloodwhores of this world she be out protecting us instead of doing nothing!" A few people booed in disgust but some was cheering on the fact that bloodwhores shouldn't be aloud to live like that. I know I once was disgusted with bloodwhores myself but it was a choice that they had to make for themselves. "I would like to implement I new idea that I don't believe anyone has thought of as of yet. I think that we should gather all of the Moroi that are spirit users and spread them around equally and use them in hospitals as well as turning Strigoi that were forced into the terrible monster back to there original state. We now no that it can happen so why not enforce that?" He looked around the audience as if asking every singe person in the room the question. He had clearly not done his research or he would have known that spirit users are very rare and that by forcing them to save Strigoi would only kill them off faster. The idiot went on like this for about ten more minutes regularly pointing out Dimitri's original state. As he stepped down I felt Lissa's nerves kick in. She looked up at me and I smiled to her as soothingly as I could. She then stood up and walked the long way round to the front of the table and smiled at the audience.
