When she was 13 he had just turned 16.
"Please?! My parents are busy and you can drive. No one else can take me." She begged.
"I'm supposed to hang out with one of my friends. I can't take you with me to hang out with my friends! You're 13!" He replied, slightly irritated.
"13 and still more mature than you and your friends." She said with an attitude.
"You're not letting this go, are you?"
"Nope."
And that's how they ended up walking around the mall, holding Starbucks cups in their hands.
"What's your name again?" Alex asked he for the third time that day.
"I'm Haylee, I'm 13. I live next door to Braden in case your were going to ask how we know each other." She replied. This friend didn't seem too bright. She turned to Braden. "Can we please go to Brandy Melville? I need new clothes for school." He rolled his eyes and mumbled a 'sure' and they entered the store. She immediately started picking items off the rack and piling them in his arms. He turned over a tag to look at the price. '50 dollars!? For a pair of sweatpants? Where does she even get the money for this stuff?' He thought to himself. She took all the items into a dressing room and told them both to wait outside and tell her what they think when she comes out.

They walked out of the store an hour later with one big bag of clothes. Braden couldn't help but laugh at her new 'hipster' style, with the 'mom' style jeans and the weird graphic t-shirts that costed way too much. Next they went to the shoe store. "What are we even here for again?" Alex asked.
"We are here for a pair of vans. I really like the yellow ones." She said, beginning to roam the isles. She walked around for two minutes before finding what she was looking for. "Here!" she exclaimed, getting both boy's attention. They walked over to find her cradling a pair of yellow checkerboard slip on vans. Braden laughed again at her strange sense of style.

"Thank you for taking me! It was fun." She yelled to him as she walked into her house. She went to bed with a smile on her face. 'You know, he's kinda cute now, only a little annoying, but he won't ever like someone three years younger than him' she thought to herself while she unpacked her new clothes.
