The bell rang and Jessica and I got up and walked towards the door.

"I'll introduce you to my other friends." Jessica told me.

"Okay." I say.

Two girls and a boy walk towards us and Jessica leads me towards them.

"Hey." Jessica says. "This is the new girl Lilly." She introduces.

They all smile at me.

"This is Emma." She says and points to a girl with curly blonde hair. She looks like a cheerleader.

"This is Emily." She says and a girl with fuzzy blonde hair pulled into a single braid behind her back stares at me.

"And Patrick." The boy smiles and runs a hand through his golden brown hair.

"Hi." I say.

"Hey." Emma says happily.

"Hi." Emily says but she looks like she is evaluating me.

Patrick nods at me.

"Emma is also in our Spanish class." Jessica told me.

Emma seemed like a nice, fun and happy person.

"We take French." Patrick said, indicating to him and Emily.

"Oh." I say.

" We're dating." Emily said suddenly grabbing Patrick's hand ad dragging him away.

"Uh...." I say not really knowing how to respond to that.

"Ignore her. Emily's on her period. And she is always clinging to Patrick like he's going to run away or something." Jessica told me.

I smile. I feel a little better about that encounter now.

"So off the Spanish we go." Jessica says smiling.

I nod and smile.

I follow Jessica and Emma to a nearby classroom.

Emma and Jessica come with me as I introduce myself to out teacher and take a seat next to Jessica and a boy named Jace.

"Please take out your Spanish notebooks." The teacher announced. She was hispanic and I didn't know how to pronounce her last name. But everyone in my class called her Mrs.H.

"Does anybody remember what man is in spanish?" Mrs. H asks us.

A girl in the back of the class with pink hair raises her hand.

"Alyssa."

"El hombre."

"Correct." She tosses Alyssa a jolly rancher.

"Mrs. H gives out candy for every right answer." Jessica whispers to me.

"How about women?"

"Brian." A boy with close cut blonde hair answers her.

"la mujer."

"Very good." Mrs. H says tossing Brian a jolly rancher.

She turns and write something on the board

I read.

Emma raises her hand.

"Emma?"

"A women." Emma answers proudly.

"Very good Emma!" Mrs. H praises and tosses her a jolly rancher.
