TRAINEE MINI CHAP. 2

"And that's why neither I nor she should be working on this project!" Jacob called, although no one but the girl next to him could understand him.

Alex sighed, looking around the empty dance room as if looking for someone to take him away. When he found no one, he groaned, loudly, and turned back around.

"What's he saying this time?"

"He doesn't want to work on the project," Chaeyoung quickly translated, before turning back to her friend. "We have to do the project, Jacob. Our idol lives quite literally depend on it!" she reasoned with the elder, but he simply frowned in return.

"He needs to understand! Explain it again!

Chaeyoung groaned.

"I think we're getting more trainees again," Sunmi hummed, pulling her knees to her chest as they sat on the bench.

"You think so? I wonder when." Sunmi shrugged as Hansol chugged down a bottle of water, wiping the sweat off his face with his sleeve.

"Who knows?" she added, before pouting. "Have you seen Tan-oppa and Hyunsik-oppa lately?"

Hansol frowned. "I saw them, like, twice yesterday. I was heading out to spend time with my family, and they were heading out as well." Hansol paused.

"Come to think of it, they weren't the only one's leaving. Changkyun-ah, Seunghyuk-ah, Doyun-ah, Minjae-hyung, and Yoongi-yah were leaving too."

Sunmi hummed. "Maybe they were heading out for lunch? They have gotten really close lately," she noted.

Hansol nodded. "I hope I did good," Hansol added as an after-thought. "I went in for evals and Chulsoo-nim looked pretty stoic after I finished."

Sunmi chuckled. "That's how he looks when he's impressed, if the past is anything to go by."

"What do you mean?" Hansol asked, chugging down more of his water bottle.

"I mean," Sunmi replied, pulling Hansol's water bottle away from his face. "Changkyun-oppa once got the same expression. He was already packing his bags and ready to leave when they posted the eval results. Turns out he got one of the top scores."

Hansol laughed once, grabbing his water bottle back before Sunmi had a chance to drink any. "As if I'm getting top marks. He's probably just surprised I didn't fall over."

Sunmi frowned. "Hansol-oppa, you're super talened, especially with dancing! Don't doubt yourself. Bet you tomorrow's lunch that you'll get one of the top marks," Sunmi smirked, holding her hand out. Hansol hesitated for a moment before gripping her outstretched hand.

"Deal."

"He said we're gonna move up a week." Yoongi beamed, gripping Doyun's arm tightly.

"Are you serious? Oh my gosh, I'm so close to reaching my dreams, I can almost taste it! Do you think-"

Oe swung his arm over their shoulder's effectively halting their conversation. "Hey, nerds," he teased, his expression confident despite the broken speech.

"Hey yourself," Yoongi responded, throwing Oe's arm off his shoulder. Oe chuckled, rustling the younger's hair. "I hear something important is happening today," Oe hummed, the three walking down to the auditorium.

Doyun nudged Yoongi. "What's he saying?"

Yoongi smiled, quickly translating. The two quickly chuckled, exchanging a conspiratorial glance before arriving at the doors of the auditorium.

It seemed they were on of the last ones to arrive, as all of the familiar faces were filling the first two rows, clumped together and chatting loudly. Doyun, Min, and Oe slid into some of the empty seats in the second row. Oe nudged Micha. "Do you know what's happening?" he asked, Japanese conversation flowing freely. Micha frowned, shaking her head.

A loud whistle from the stage caught everyone's attention. Faith's loud laugh was the last thing to echo through the auditorium as it fell silent, everyone turning their attention towards the stage. Gyuri stood, her lips twisted into a smug smirk before she stepped back.

Sakura stood at the front of the stage, beaming at the trainees. "Hello! I'm sure you're wondering why we called you here today?" he asked, and Minho chuckled from his side.

"Don't freak them out, Geo-hyung," Minho chided gently, but Sakura simply laughed.

"Don't worry, you guys. Nothing bad is happening," Sakura assured, causing most of the trainees to let out loud sighs of relief.

"We do want to show you guys a video!" The trainees cheered.

"Jae-ssi, can you play the video?" Jaebum nodded, scurrying off the side of the stage.

"Now, before we play the video, I want you all to know that this is the first ever viewing of this video," Sakura mentioned, and the staff all exchanged excited glances (except Gyuri. She doesn't smile often).

The projector screen lowered right behind Sakura and Minho, so the rest of the staff quickly made their way over to the house seats, integrating  with the trainees smoothly as they all held their breaths in anticipation.

"I present to you, Solaire's debut music video..."

"Look."
