TRAINEE MINI CHAP. 1

"I mean, there's a fine line between dorky and nerdy-"

"DOYUN-AH! All I did was call you a bit of a nerd, cut your hyung some slack!" Seunghyuk groaned, dripping with sweat from their recent dance practice. "And admit it, you are a massive nerd."

Doyun gasped dramatically, offended, a hand flying to his chest. "How dare you, hyung!" The younger trainees snickered, watching the exchange on the couch with mild bemusement.

Seunghyuk simply chuckled, having been friends with the younger long enough to expect the regular banter.

"To be fair to Doyun-ah, he's not the nerdiest person in this company," Hani chirped in from her spot in the corner, lips quirking up into a smirk as Doe nodded in her direction. "Thank you, noona!"

Hani tilted her head in acknowledgement before responding, "Ying Yue-eonni is definitely the nerdiest trainee here." Ying Yue spluttered, almost choking on her water, causing Changkyun to firmly thump her on the back, Yoongi and Hansol falling over each other as they laughed.

"Wha- why the hell was I brought into this?" she cried, and Hani simply shrugged.

"Alright nerds," Tiana called, entering the room with as much flair as always. "I'm a dork!" Doyun cried, exasperation slipping into his voice. "Whatever, not important. Point is, first evals are coming up in about a day or so, and there is no time to waste bickering over the meaning of nerd and dork, dorks."

Michelle walked into the room behind Tiana, sighing quietly. "I told you not to announce it outright." Tiana rolls her eyes, clapping the elder on the back. "I didn't, eonni. I had some build up to it first." Michelle sighed in reply.

"Anyway, evals are due in a day, and Chanyoung-nim isn't judging dance evals this time." Realization dawned on everyone's faces, but Jiseok voiced everyone's unanswered question.

"So, Chulsoo-nim is judging?"

A single nod caused everyone to let out a groan.

"I'm not going to get a perfect mark if it's him judging!" Hakura complained, arm swung over his eyes as he laid on the floor.

"When did you ever get perfect marks anyway? It's, like, your first week here," Juhee noted, poking him with the tip of her Converse.

"Touche, noona. Touche."

"I love, I love, I love myself!" Mijung sang, demonstrating the moves slowly.

"I know, I know, I know myself!" Xian-rae said, following the movements almost perfectly.

Mijung clapped, scurrying over. "That was good, Xian-rae-ssi! The last quarter beat needs to be a little sharper, but everything else was good! Can I see last minute from all six of you?" she asked, gesturing to the assembled group. Seunghyuk nodded, taking his place. Tiana hesitated. "Can we go over that last part again? I didn't quite get it," she mumbled, and Xian-rae walked over. "Don't sweat it, Tiana-yah. It was a bit complicated. Want me to show you?" she soothed, and Tiana nodded gratefully.

Minjae ran through the motions silently to himself in the corner, and Ying Yue walked over to join him, the two eventually getting through the first minute without any mistakes.

Hakura giggled to himself as he watched Seunghyuk stumble over his own foot in search of a water bottle. "Here, hyung. Don't kill yourself for it," he teased, tossing a new bottle in Seunghyuk's direction. Luckily, the elder had turned as soon as someone started addressing him, and caught the bottle without much difficulty.

Eventually, the group of six finally got through the three minutes of choreography, and Mijung clapped appreciatively. "That was great, you guys! Mind doing it again so I can film it?"

She got six groans in return.

---

"Wait, so how's this pronounced?"

"窓? That's pronounced mado," Tan explained, and Minyeon's mouth fell into a perfect "o" shape with understanding.

"Wait, that means dresser, right?" Hansol puzzled, scratching his head. "Close? It means window."

"How in the world is dresser close to window?" Tan shrugged. "They're both in a house, I guess?"

Across the room, another pair puzzled through a language together.

Minjae and Seunggyo were hunched over a phone, the language program running. "Let's go," the program droned, and Seunggyo groaned. "가자, " the program announced after, and both let out noises of understanding. "Why is English so confusing?" Seunggyo huffed, pausing the lesson momentarily, and Minjae rolled his eyes next to him. "I don't know why we're using it in a song already, and why they put the two trainees who have absolutely no prior English experience in charge of learning it," Minjae complained.

"Does it look like I know?"

The mini chaps will mostly be crack stuff, unless something important is gonna happen soon!
