She was just a kid back then. A scruffed up, messy little five-year-old with bright eyes and a fondness for the dark. A fondness her mom found weird, because it wasn't anything like "the night is pretty", no. She had taken some kind of peculiar liking to enjoying normal kid activities, such as playing with her favorite toys, in the pitch black of her room. Granted, It saved her mom some serious money on their electrical bill, she found it odd she did something most kids had nightmares of doing. Whatever the reason, it wasn't healthy to stay cooped up in a dark room. She forced her tiny little daughter to play outside for the day when she was looking a little too sickly and pale. Over the course of time she made friends with the neighbor kids, and most times when she went outside, they were there to.

What they most often played was cards. Right outside of Hera's window, with a front-row view to them teaching Eileithyia how to play various card games. She didn't know why she didn't go outside to play more often, every time she came back she'd have a bright smile on her face, announcing the newest addition to the game roster. Hera's most vivid memory of that was when she came back rather disheartened the first time they ever played. It was a game of goldfish, and she was sad they couldn't use the joker cards. As if she completely forgot about her previous state, she went on brightly about how they were her friends now and had ever made up a name for her, Eel. Her mother always thought the name was kind of strange, but it made her daughter happy so she never said anything.

However, that was not her only... er... quirk. Up until the 12th of September, which was only a few days away from her 6th birthday, she had never had a nightmare. Eileithyia refused to disclose any details to the said nightmare. After that, she never had another one, but she could recite her first and only nightmare like it had been the biggest event of her life. As well as that, she often said very ominous sounding things about card games after the neighbors moved away. She eventually stopped, but Hera couldn't remember what she was saying, and Eileithyia had no recollection of ever going through the phase.

After awhile Eileithyia could barely even remember her childhood. Almost as if she had never belonged completely to this world.

A/N: Hello! Its been so long since I've written (wrote?). Recently I played deltarune and I absolutely loved it! All of the feelings from undertale rushed back! Obviously, I do not know a whole ton about the game besides what I have played, so I won't get everything right. If you see a plot point, a name, or a character description that's like,,, wayyyy off, don't be afraid to tell me.
