The Immortal Realm

Him..

My name is Sky Greene and my world isn't what it seems. You see, at a glance you it's normal human beings headed on their merry way, but if you look past the glamour you'll find yourself in a world where all the legends are true. In my world there are Krakens, Beowulf's, Kappas, nians, nagas, and piasas. Which am I.... Well as far as i know I'm just a 5'2 girl with blonde puffy hair, green eyes, and just enough fat for people to comment on it.

It was the first day of my sophomore year in Abbeville, Georgia at Westward High. I walked through the threshold of the students' entrance to see a bunch of students gathered in their own group that they've known since primary school. I made my way to the gym and as I scanned the crowd, I noticed that everyone was talking to at least one person. So I just sat where there weren't that many people and, feeling somewhat nostalgic and pining to go home, I looked at all the pictures I had from my last year at Stowe Middle. As I was scrolling, I came across a picture of Calvin Lawn. He and I were a thing all through 9th grade but we had to break it off, because it wouldn't be fair to him if we tried the long distance thing that breaks up most couples. I still hate the way we left things, but it had to be done. The bell drew me out of my thoughts.

I began making my way to my first class. There was barely any space to move through the halls without bumping into someone. All of a sudden, it felt like someone pushed my shoulder with as much force as they could conjure up, yet I didn't fall. When I was able to process what just happened, I realized someone did that on purpose, but on whom I'm was still trying to figure out. When my mind stopped racing, I realized there was a person leaning up against the wall next to me. I quickly looked down and saw that all my books were on the floor at his feet.

"I'm so sorry! I should have been watching where I was going." When I looked up, I saw a guy standing in front of me. He was definitely at least a foot taller than me, with unruly dark brown hair that outlined his face perfectly and gorgeous blue eyes... I realized I had been staring and quickly looked down at my books on the ground and started picking them up. I looked back up to see if he was mad, but he wasn't; he was, surprisingly, smiling. "It's fine. I wasn't paying that much attention either." Then, he bent down, picked up my books and handed them to me.

"Oh, thanks."

I didn't notice that he was looking at me until now, it felt almost as if he was surveying me. Our eyes met and I felt like I could almost see right through him, but before I could say anything, he broke eye contact. "Oh uh, I'm Jackson." He extended his arm towards me.

"I'm Sky." I told him as I took his hand nervously and shook it. "Nice to meet you. Um... question, do you happen to know where room 316 is?"

He looked around for a second as though to see where we were and told me, "Walk down this hall until you get to the last left, and go all the way down that hall and it will be on your right." I tried to looked down the hall to see what he was talking about, but I couldn't see over all the people trying to rush to the correct classrooms. I think he saw my struggling, because he said, "Oh, never mind, I'll just take you there myself."

As we were walking down the hall, I felt something off about him, like he's hiding something behind his deep blue eyes that he doesn't want anyone to know, but I couldn't pinpoint what. "So... I'm guessing you're new." he said with a faint grin on his face.

"Uh, yeah. Is it that obvious?"

I started noticing the people in the hall around us and all the girls were staring at us; actually, no, not at us-- at him. I started trying to figure out what he was thinking about how they were staring at us, but I got nothing.

"Well, here we are. See you around."
