Any day now the new Maslow would be born, little Eliza Jade Maslow. Both of her parents were excited to meet their daughter, even Jane! They all wondered who and what she will look like. Would she be a spitting image of her mother or look more like her father? Would she be like Jane and be a fair mix of both her parents? It will just have to be a wait and see whenever the baby girl decides she is ready to leave her mother’s stomach.
Riley stood in the girly nursery, a hand on her stomach as she looked around. The crib was white, but there wasn’t a mattress in it. For the first few months Eliza will sleep in the bassinet in her parent’s bedroom. The white curtains with faded pink laced curtains over them were pulled to the side, allowing the sunlight to shine through the room. The room had a pink carpet and white walls, butterfly wall stickers on the wall and the name “Eliza” hanging on the wall above the crib in those wooden letters you find in craft stores painted pink. Stuffed animals were here and there, the large closet off to the side being opened and showing all of the lacey, pink, and frilly outfits waiting to be worn.
Arms wrapped around Riley, a face being placed against her neck. James.
“Still dreaming on when she is born and we bring her home?” James murmured against his wife’s neck, maybe leaving a small kiss before sighing happily. Riley gave a smile and simply replied,
“I am four days over my due date. To be honest, I’m tired of her being in there and not out here. Eliza must be happy…” She spoke quietly, softly. Her baby girl must be content in her stomach, but she could love her baby more and let her love them more if she would just come out. Yes, Riley did love being pregnant more than anything, but she also loved hearing that newborn baby cry when they are first born. She loved holding that small and tiny human in her arms and knowing that baby in her arms is hers. That the baby in her arms needs her and its father more than anything and relies on them more than ever.
James gave a sigh to Riley, pulling his head up and ran his hand through her hair. “Well, at least we know she is happy and healthy.” He slid a hand to her stomach, soon feeling his daughter move against the spot his hand was at. “She moves around a lot to not be healthy.” He chuckled a bit, kissing his wife’s cheek. “Someday soon she will be in our arms. The doctors won’t let you stay pregnant for so long if you’re over your due date.”
Riley sighed. Well, James had a point. One way or another, she will eventually hold her baby girl, but she doesn’t really want to force her out… She wants her daughter to come out when she is ready. Before Riley could reply to James, Jane came running and shouting happily, “Mommy, Daddy!” Riley jumped, and rather quickly felt a small pain in her stomach. James looked at his wife with an eye brow raised but soon looked at his daughter, lifting her up.
Before he could ask what it was, Riley quietly said, “James…” James looked at his wife, giving her a confused look.
“What is it?” He asked her, wondering why she was acting like he was, and the fact that being scared can induce labor not crossing his mind.
“Call Kendall… have him meet us at the hospital to watch Jane… and get the bag…” James’ eyes widened.
Eliza was on her way.
