Callie's POV

I hear the soft sound of piano keys and walk to the source of the music. I lean against the doorway as I watch my younger sister and boyfriend play together. Brandon had promised Sophia they would play together sometime before he and the others left and it appears they are getting it done know, which is good considering they leave tomorrow.

They haven't noticed me watching them yet and I take this opportunity to admire how they interact with each other. They speak to each other in soft voices as Brandon tries to teach Sophia a new melody, it being hard for him to do so since he cannot play it himself. But after about another minute, Sophia plays it immaculately and Brandon smiles at her proudly.

I decide to reluctantly interrupt now, despite wanting to watch them continue acting as brother and sister.

"That was beautiful, Soph," I say, walking into the room. They turn around and look at me, startled.

"How long have you been standing there?" Sophia asks.

I shrug. "A couple minutes, maybe," I answer. "I didn't want to interrupt you guys. You seemed really in the zone."

"Well, we were, Callie," Brandon says. "So move along." He smiles at me jokingly.

I laugh. "Whatever. I can sit here and listen to you guys play, right?"

Sophia sighs. "I guess," she says. "If you really want to."

I smile at her and sit on the chair near them, pulling it a little closer. Brandon and Sophia re-immerse themselves in the music, Sophia now trying to teach Brandon something and he tries, despite his hand, to reciprocate it.

As Brandon continues playing, though, I hear him play something I haven't heard him play in months, something that he hasn't been able to play in months.

I stand up slowly. "Brandon..." I start, walking towards him. Brandon stops playing and lifts his right hand off the keys, stunned.

"Oh my gosh," Sophia breathes out, her smile growing by the second.

Brandon looks at me. "Callie..." he breathes out. "I can play."

I let out a breath and a smile breaks out on my face. Brandon stands up off the piano bench and walks to me.

He holds my face in his hands. "I can play," he repeats. "I can play."

"Yes," I attest, nodding my head quickly. "You can." He wraps his arms around my waist and I do the same around his neck. He holds me close to him. "You can play again, Brandon," I whisper in his ear.

He pulls away and smiles wide at me, then leans forward and gives me a light kiss.

"I can't believe it," he says. "I really thought there was no hope."

"But there was hope, Brandon," I reply. "There always is."

----

I hold Brandon's right hand in mine, playing with it, as we sit together on his bed that night.

"It doesn't even look like anything happened to it," I comment.

"I know," he replies. "It healed really well." He pauses. "I bet those kisses helped it, though."

I smile as I think back to the many times since we got back together that I kissed his right hand and those delicate fingers over and over again to make them heal.

"One more time won't hurt, though," I say as I lift his hand up to my lips and kiss each fingertip softly and slowly. I move to his knuckles and do the same. I feel Brandon place a kiss on the back of my neck.
