Jeremy sighed in annoyance as he heard light footsteps clomping their way up the stairs. Within seconds his younger sister, Lucy, barged through his door.
"Jeremy~" she whined, her pigtails swaying as she tilted her head to the side.
"Hmm?" He asked, returning his focus to phone.
"Will you pleeeeease watch Timmy for me tomorrow? Jess wants me to come over tomorrow and she's not allowed to have tinies over." Lucy pouted, puckering her lips out a tad.
Jeremy groaned. Although he didn't have plans tomorrow, the last thing he wanted to do was babysit her pet all afternoon. To be honest, he wasn't even sure why she had gotten a tiny. Although they were relatively easy to take care of, he wasn't sure why someone would want one. In his opinion, he felt like they were more of a nuisance than anything. Most of them were always terrified or over emotional. Why buy a pet whose constantly depressed when you could get a dog instead?
Tinies weren't uncommon around his school; there were quite a few of his friends that owned one or two. They could also be found in nearly any pet shop or animal shelter. Sometimes, you could even find some hiding in sewers and the like.
It wasn't like Jeremy was repulsed by them. Hell, he'd even played with one of his friend's tinies a time or two.
Letting out an even longer sigh, Jeremy replied. "What if I don't wanna though?"
"Well," she started. "I already asked mom and she says that you have too."
Jeremy rolled his eyes once again. Didn't she know that mindlessly scrolling through various social media platforms was far more important than this?
"Besides," Lucy exclaimed, "look how cute he is!!"
Just then, Jeremy realized that her tiny, Timmy, had been in her hands the whole time. His little sister stepped towards him, slightly shoving the pet towards him.
At this, Jeremy backed away slightly, not wanting to be too close. He took a moment to take in the boy's features.
The boy was relatively thin with very pale, white skin and thin, blonde hair that was slightly disheveled. He wore a simple outfit; a black t-shirt paired with pants made of a soft fabric that was supposed to replicate the look of denim.
Timmy looked nervous, and was slightly shaking. Jeremy wasn't sure if he was cold or just downright scared.
The teen slowly closed the gap between him and the tiny, attempting to get an even better look. Now was Timmy's turn to back up, obviously uncomfortable with the proximity. Jeremy didn't seem to notice or care.
Jeremy found the pet to be actually decent looking. He seemed healthy and well-behaved, a quality that he found satisfactory. Jeremy was glad that his sister had chosen a good tiny. She deserved to have some company, considering the fact that she spent most of her time alone.
While he was concerned with her social interaction (or lack thereof), he didn't blame her. He too was introverted and spent most of his time at home curled up in his room or at his job. He worked as a table-busser at a local dinner. Thankfully, he didn't have to interact with the costumers too much and could focus on basic tasks such as cleaning.
After a few more moments of analyzing the tiny, Lucy spoke up.
"Did you wanna hold him?" There was a slight tinge of hope in her voice. For months she had been trying to get Jeremy to be interested her pet and play with him. However, he always refused and had yet to actually look at him, let alone touch him.
"Uh.." he started, unsure. Did he want to hold him?
The creature in front of him was clearly uncomfortable, not wanting to be at the mercy of a teenaged boy who clearing didn't care about his existence.
