I woke up, sweating, in the middle of the night. It was at least three hours before my alarm clock was supposed to go off. I wiped my forehead, heart pounding in my chest. I had another nightmare. This one was even worse: it was all of our plans to save Kellie, on a loop. Each time, we all died and it grew more and more gruesome.

Those ruby eyes, glowing in the moonlight kept haunting me. It was all I saw as I tried to fall back to sleep. The sound of bones snapping echoed in my ears. It was torture, but eventually, I fell back asleep -- then thirty minutes later my alarm went off. I couldn't focus on anything, so I was glad it was Friday. The week was almost over, but for me, it meant I needed to get my nightmares under control.

Tomorrow was the big day. Ivelyn was on my case, texting me nonstop about how we couldn't risk me going to the game. I didn't understand why she thought I was needed so much, all I could do was see visions. Maybe if I had better control over them, then I would be an asset, but that wasn't the case. Ivelyn and Kate had the beneficial powers, ones that could help. Even if I was this shield, it may be only worked against Witch's powers.

Daniel picked me up again today. He brought me flowers and a coffee. I think he felt bad about last night, which was in the furthest corner of my mind. Today, it didn't really seem like a big deal. It was just my mind overreacting like it always did.

"Thank you," I told him inhaling the sweet scent of the roses. They were pink and peach: not really my colors, but it was the thought that counted. I was pretty sure they didn't sell black roses at the grocery store.

"You seemed like you needed a pick me up," he said with a shrug. We hopped into his car and headed to class. The coffee was helping, but my mind still felt like it was a fog. It helped that walking down the halls with Daniel took little to no effort. People came out of the woodwork to say hi to Daniel. Now, I knew why he was usually a couple of minutes late to class.

We rounded the corner, nearly to History, when Ivelyn waved me over. Well, it wasn't really a wave, more of a demand. I sighed. Daniel was already suspicious of us hanging out, I didn't want to lie to him more.

"I'll meet you inside?" He was reluctant, I could read that from his wary eyes and how long it took him to nod.

"Okay," he finally said. I waited until the door shut behind him, then I walked over to Ivelyn. She was tapping her foot, impatient as ever. Today was a colder day and Ivelyn was dressed like a Winter dream.

"What?" She frowned in pink gloss.

"You should tell Daniel you can't go tonight. You're risking the integrity of our plan." She crossed her arms over his chest. I rolled my eyes because she was being ridiculous. She kept urging me to pick Daniel or the Coven like it had to be an either-or situation.

"Ivelyn, I'm not going to do that," I told her -- again.

"Why not? You were the one that was so gung-ho about saving Kellie and now--

"That hasn't changed." I grit my teeth. Ivelyn had this way of getting under my skin.

"Good," apparently, I had the same effect on her. "If you screw this up for us," I watched her close her fist, a puff of smoke escaped the palm of her hand. Thankfully, there wasn't anyone in the halls but us.

"You need to save that for tonight. Don't worry about me I have it under control." My tongue unrecognizable. I went to turn away, then I spun around. "And don't try to threaten me Ivelyn, you might have the power of Fire, but I can see the future." Her eyebrows shot up in shock. She looked truly stunned. Honestly, I was too because I hadn't meant to tell her off.

Her shock only lasted about three seconds. Then, her face was twisted up in her uppity arrogance.

"Yeah, whatever, Moreau." She turned on her heel, stomping down the hall. Her heels clicking on the linoleum.
