"You mean, you're an adopted daughter?" Taehyung asked in surprise.

Joohyun nodded, smiling bitterly when she remembers her last conversation with her parents.

-

"Joohyun,"

She stepped out from Taehyung's hospital room, only to be greeted with her parents who she misses at the moment.

"Eomma, appa." She mumbled.

Her mother pulled her into a warm hug which she really needed after going through the hard situation.

Pulling away after a few minutes, her parents exchanged glances with each other, before looking at her with much guilt in their eyes.

"Joohyun, we need to tell you something."

.

She stared at polaroid photo of the man with a familiar baby in his arms.

"He is my brother, Bae Jisung. He is married, and has a daughter who is you, Bae Joohyun."

Her heart clenched, as she held a fist under the table.

"But then, when his family went for a vacation, they involved in a serious accident. A drunk man who was driving the truck crashed into a few cars and motorcycle, including his car."

"All of the victims died in the accident, but my brother's wife, your biological mother held you in her arms until the end, and you were the only one survivor in the hysterical accident." Mr Bae stopped for a moment, gulping his water.

"We adopted you as our own daughter, since you're our nephew after all. But Jinyoung didn't know. He is like 4 or 5 years old, so he doesn't understand much. What he knows is, you're his sister.

"Your father is a really successful businessman and he owned a big company. He wrote it in his will that you will take over the company when you're 20. At that time, you're a baby and don't know anything about life, but the company needs someone to manage it, so we, as his family decided to handle it for a while until you are 20, following your father's will."

"But when you got into the college, you told us that you want to take counseling major instead of business, and we don't want to block your dream, so we let you."

"But then we realized that you still need to take over the company, and we can't cancel the contract, so we are searching for a suitable time to tell you the truth." He stopped, looking at his wife to continue it.

"But we're late, Jinyoung already knows half of it. Without trying to ask us what really happened, he made his own assumption that we're unfair. But I'm so sorry, I don't know that he will go that far and almost become a murderer." Her mother—aunt said.

"I—" Joohyun gasped, shaking her head. "This is too much. I believe it, and I don't blame you two, but this is too much for me to take it."

"Take it slowly, Joohyun. We're really sorry for not telling this from the first. You have much times, so take it slow. Just call us when you're ready. We will be waiting." Her uncle said.

Oof, it is hurts to see them as uncle and aunt.

"About Jinyoung, we're sorry as his behalf. Even though he is our son, we will still make sure he gets the punishment according to the law. So don't worry much."

-

"That's all." She finished. "Such a drama. I don't know if I'm living a reality now."

She smiled, not forcing it though. But the bitterness still hinted in her eyes.

"How about Jinyoung?" Taehyung asked in concern.

"He wrote an apology letter to me, and the court already confirmed his punishment according to the law. After all, this is not really his fault, because he doesn't know that the company is really mine to begin with." She said, remembering Jinyoung's sincere face when he apologized to her.

"But yeah, I still can't forget when he crashed the glass bottle on your head, oh no— I don't want to remember it." She said, shaking her head afterwards.

"Wait, can you walk further? Let's go back to your room, you need to rest." She said, looking at him.

"I don't want yet." He refused.

They continue walking in the hospital garden, enjoying the view.

He grabbed her hand, holding it tightly, and he secretly formed a smile when she moved their hands to intertwine their fingers together.

"You know what, I heard your voice calling for me when I was unconscious." He reported. "You're the one that convinced me to wake up, if not, I think I already continue my way to the death and die."

"Die is a strong word. No need to mention it." She complained, but not giving any respond for the main topic, probably feeling embarrassed.

After that, they continued walking in the comfortable silence, with their hands still attached to each other.
