"Ice cream," Liam scoffed, as if he though the idea of it was simply and utterly ridiculous. "And you wonder why everyone calls you a kid." He gestured towards the ice cream booth, for which they were currently standing in line for. The blue eyed male scoffed and rolled his eyes, "I'm sorry that you're old and have a horrible metabolism but I enjoy eating quite a bit." The elder of the two said nothing, simply begrudgingly waited in line for their turn to order.
Once Niall had gotten his ice cream and Liam had decided last minute that he wanted one as well, (hypocrite) they found a table to sit at while they ate. "So, I want to thank you." Liam piped up, setting his ice cream bowl down. Niall said nothing, only continued to assault his ice cream cone with his tongue. "I saw the footage from the firm, the way Sophia treated you.. you didn't mention that," He dragged his spoon around his bowl. "She's not a bad person, she's just protective."
Niall had no idea why this man was sitting here trying to protect his girlfriend's image from some stranger, perhaps it was because he felt embarrassed or ashamed? Perhaps he wasn't that much of an asshole and actually wanted his company to have a good reputation. He still didn't know why it mattered what he thought, but he wasn't going to stress himself out with trying to wrap his head around it — at least, not right now. He was quite busy right now.
"She's... I think you'd like her." He continued to babble, which was useless. Niall didn't hate her, he didn't hate anyone besides God. He wouldn't go around and talk about her when he didn't know her, it was easy to give her a pass because he would've done the same thing, anyone would've. "I'm used to it," Liam looked up from his ice cream, his attention now honed in on Niall. "People reacting that way when they see me, I mean." Liam looked like he wanted to protest but he was having none of it. "You were ready to jump me the other night, it's nothing new, people act like that all the time."
The older male said nothing only finished yo his ice cream and tossed the container away, he brushed off his attire and stood, looking down at Niall expectantly. "I'm not done yet." He shrugged, which earned him a sigh. "Okay, finish up and meet me at the car." He nodded and watched as the man left, had he offended him? Probably. The one thing that Niall was good at was offending people, driving people away, making people hate him, the list was endless.
"Ryan stop." He heard muffled voices from a few tables down, they were far enough to the point where they thought they couldn't be heard but lucky him, he had exceptional hearing and eavesdropping skills under his belt. "Please just— stop." His blue eyes swept to the couple only for a split second, then his gaze dropped to their hands which to anyone else would look like they were entwined but from where he was sitting? From where he was sitting he could see how harsh of a grip he had on her hand, he could see his nails biting into her skin, he could see that he was angry, so angry.
"We have no money Niall." He said, running a hand through his messy hair, he'd been pulling at it for hours now, trying to find them a way out of the mess they were in. The blonde looked at him, worry evident in his arctic eyes. "What about the shipment? Isn't it supposed to come in?" He flinched as his fist hit the counter in an angry manner, a sarcastic laugh emitting from his lips. "Well obviously the shipment's not fucking coming isn't it!?" Niall chewed on his lip as he remained silent. "Fuck!"
