⊹ chapter six ⊹
jeongguk and jimin were currently stuck inside, sitting on the couch while a movie played in the background. it was now the weekend, but ever since they woke up this morning, the weather had been terrible. the rain was beating down on the roof and leaving the ground all soggy. the thunder sounded closer with each angry rumble— not to mention the lightning was literally lighting up the entire sky.
jimin almost wondered if the weather had something against him as they sat silently, movie after movie playing to keep them from having to talk. neither one of them spoke a word to the other, until jimin's stomach growled and he sighed.
jeongguk glanced over at him, running his finger back and forth over the cuff of his sweater sleeve. "i... i can make you something if you'd like."
jimin simply ignored him, swiping a tired hand through his hair as he pushed up from the cough and headed to the kitchen. jeongguk quietly trailed behind him like a lost puppy, watching from the kitchen entrance as jimin started pulling out a pot and packets of shin ramen.
leaning against the counter, jimin filled the pot with water and ripped open the seasoning packet, dumping it into the water before setting it on the stove and turning the heat on high. he dropped in the two bricks of noodles once the soup started to boil, pressing down on them with his chopsticks and breaking apart the noodles once they were soft enough. grabbing an egg and some spring onion from the fridge, jimin cracked the egg into a little bowl.
"here." jimin held out the bowl and chopsticks to jeongguk. "mix this up for me— gently— while i cut the onions?"
jeongguk jumped at the chance to help and took the bowl. using the chopsticks, he gently whisked it until the egg turned fully yellow and listened to the soft crunch of the onions jimin was cutting.
when the noodles were almost done, jimin added in the spring onions and took the bowl of egg from jeongguk, adding that as well before laying a couple slices of cheese on top to melt.
jeongguk stepped aside when jimin turned off the stove, grabbed pot holders, and carried the pot of ramen to the kitchen table. jimin set the pot down on one of the pot holders, silently setting two pairs of chopsticks and some kimchi on the table.
later on that night, jeongguk ended up falling asleep on the couch; it was somewhere in the middle of the movie when his head ended up on jimin's shoulder. jimin huffed out a breath, rolled his eyes, but didn't move him. it wasn't much longer until he felt his own eyes getting heavy as the movie continued. he was too tired to get up and have to move jeongguk too, so he just closed his eyes and let himself fall asleep.
the next morning jimin slowly blinked his eyes open, and was met with jeongguk's chest. he narrowed his eyes in confusion, trying to process just how they ended up like this. jeongguk's arm was slung over his waist, holding him close so he didn't fall off the couch; their legs were tangled together, and the blanket he had been using last night was thrown over them.
jimin could feel the heat radiating off jeongguk as the robot tightened his grip around him. jimin slowly looked up, his eyes scanning over jeongguk's face, panicking when jeongguk whined softly. he froze, thinking he woke jeongguk up, but jeongguk just buried his face in the crook of jimin's neck, the little puffs of breath making jimin break out in goosebumps.
jimin sighed in relief, and closed his eyes again. he hadn't realized it till now, but he really missed being held like this by someone. even if he didn't necessarily like jeongguk, it wouldn't hurt to stay like this a little longer, right? maybe this wasn't so bad after all. the thought swirled around in his head as his eyes drooped, sticking together and pulling him back under.
