She can't remember a time in her life when she'd felt more abandoned, more humiliated, -except all those years when she still lived with her parents and they just couldn't stop being the worst people on earth so she took it upon herself to escape from that hell she once called home. But now she was living her best life: a job she loved in a city she adored with the man of her dreams.

She felt good, just not this very moment.

The only reason she's been able to keep her hurt and angry tears from falling down her face is the fact that she's surrounded by people she doesn't know, -maybe a few, but not that well- and frankly being plastered all over every social media existing, eyes swollen with make-up smudged and tear stricken face is not the goal of her night. At this point she just wants to go home.

It has been no secret that since she first began dating Sebastian the entire world didn't sit well with it; everyone had something to say whether it was their age difference or the way they walked or held hands. Even their expressions when together were commented on. It only took a few months into the relationship for Lily to understand that it wasn't the fact that Sebastian was dating her, rather the fact that he wasn't dating someone famous.

His manager in particular believed that he needed to be seen and associated with women of the industry -well known women that would make his name pop up in every interview and gossip magazine. Stupid how they still don't understand that Sebastian Stan doesn't need anyone to make him stand out, she kept thinking continously.

It was disheartening, to say the least, to know that the people who signed her boyfriend's paycheck, along with the rest of the world, would be much happier if she weren't part of his life. But Sebastian had made it clear to her that he wasn't the least influenced by whatever people were telling; he didn't care about their age difference and he definitely didn't care if she wore slippers or Jimmy Choos to work. He wanted her and only her.

This of course didn't stop the people from the higher offices to introduce him, every chance they got, to every single woman in the industry, more suited for him. It was also becoming a disturbingly frequent occurence to see pictures of him 'hanging out' with said women. Whether it'd be coffee or a friendly walk in the busy streets of New York.
When confronted Sebastian would assure her, swearing up and down that the 'date' was sprung on him and that he was just doing his job.

She just can't help but wonder how good he's doing it sometimes.

Especially tonight, at this stupid launch party for an even stupider perfume, where close to two hours she has been sitting on a couch in the corner while Seb mingles, chats up and settles with a group of people in which a pretty, blonde woman interests him in an animated conversation. Lily doesn't know who she is nor does she care, her heart too heavy to muster up the courage and seek information.

Now, going to these functions wasn't all that bad. She enjoyed the drinks and the music, even made peace with her mind, telling herself that she didn't care if people didn't give her a second glance, but everybody wanted to be around to and speak to Sebastian.
And she learned early on that her boyfriend wouldn't always be there to be a buffer between her and the intimidating of the entertainment industry.

She dealt with that fairly well, she'd say, knowing it was as much of a burden on Sebastian as it was on her and yes, she was used to be nearly invisible and exchanged for a piece of furniture. However it was the very first time she'd been literally pushed aside by a stout man and replaced by the leggy woman that was now laughing with her head tilted back and a hand squeezing her man's bicep.

"Miss? More champagne?" the voice of the same waiter that has been passing back and forth in front of her pulls her from her thoughts and she looks up, a tray in front of her with three flutes filled almost to the brink with the sparkling beverage. She takes the tall glass and immediately takes a large gulp, not even waiting for the man in uniform to take a step back.
