I Do

Dearest, I love you,
oh, dearest, I do.
'Though my mind has gone bitter,
my heart will stay true.

Dearest, I miss you,
Oh, dearest, I do.
And 'though I've so many distractions,
I only want you.

I want the sound of your voice,
And the look in your eyes.
I want to lie next to you
under great northern skies.

I want the touch of your skin,
and the way that you smile.
Because I don't mind admitting
The way I've felt for a while.

I want the sound of your laugh,
when I say a lame joke.
And I want what you'll say
On the days I can't cope.

And I know this is terrible -
this stupid 'love' poem.
But dearest, I'm feeling
So awfully alone.

God! Dearest, I love you,
oh, dearest, I do.
'Though my mind has gone bitter,
my heart will stay true.

And, dearest, I miss you,
Oh, dearest, I do.
And 'though I've so many distractions,
I only want you.
