tap tap is the sound of my pencil tapping my notebook. it's so quiet at my house. my mother is at some party. my brother ramiro is at his girlfriends house. so i'm home alone doing my homework.

"ugh, i'll do this later." i say to myself. i got bored and grabbed my phone to facetime my best friend, mariana. it rings not too long before she answers.

"hello." she says.

"hey best friend, what are you doing?" i ask her.

"nothing to be honest. u should come over." she lays down on her bed as she says that.

"lemme ask my mom." i say going on pause to text my mother.

"wait how you gonna get here? isn't you're mom at that party?" marina asks.

"'she left me the car." i point out while jingling the keys.

"oh okay, perfect!" she exclaims excitedly.

"she said i can go. bye imma get dressed." i say getting off of pause.

"ok byeee" she waves then hangs up.

i pull up to the fosters home and turn off the car. i grab my book bag cause i figured i'll do some homework with mariana. i get out of the car and walk up to they're doorstep and ring the doorbell. aj opens the door and i greet him.

"oh. hey aj" confused as to why he was here i walked in.

"hey." he says closing the door behind him. "i'm just staying here until mike gets back from a business trip."

"oh. lena and stef know you and callie are dating?" i ask.

"yeah they're cool with it. we just can't hang out behind closed doors." he answers.

"oh okay. where's mari?" i ask.

"in her room i think." he says going into the kitchen.

"oh okay." i say then walk upstairs.

i knock on her and callie's bedroom door. "come in." i hear mari yell.

so i open her door to reveal her doing homework and talking to callie.

"heyyy." i say walking over to mariana and giving her a hug.

"hey. i was just finishing up homework." she says pointing to her homework.

"no it's okay i need to do homework too." i then go to callie and give her a hug. "hi."

she then just smiles at me. i sit on marianas bed and grab my books.

"so has anything happened? any drama or anything?" i ask curious as to what new drama was going on at anchor beach.

"not really..." mariana pauses as she thinks. "oh! sally is saying that brandon's play glorifies suicide. so they're trying to shut it down but brandon needs it for his senior project."

"what the fuck? if schools start putting trigger warnings on every book or play that can be upsetting to someone how are we supposed to learn anything for ourselves?" i say annoyed because i really like romeo and juliet.

"i'm sure moms not gonna let them kill r & j." callie says trying to calm us down.

"well she better not." mariana says.
