Ruqayyah's POV

"Ruqayyah, well done!" Mrs Fatima congratulates me as she hands me my test paper.

I give her a small smile before someone knocked on the door. "I'm sorry to interrupt..."It was Mr Karl, the headteacher. "Is Ruqayyah Deen here?"

Oh no!

I didn't attend Jim's lessons for two days. Yes, I completely skipped his lessons on purpose. Am I in trouble now? I have never done that before. Will I be expelled for skipping lessons?

"Yes, why?" Mrs Fatima looks at him curiously. I was never called to by the headteacher.

"Ruqayyah, pack your stuff and come with me, please," he orders. I get up and do as he said.

"Where is she going?" Mrs Fatima asks as she walks to Mr Karl.

He quietly explains to her and she looks at me in confusion before lightly nodding. I know, I know. I never thought I would dare rebel against a teacher either.

"Have a seat," Mr Karl says as we entered his office. "I suppose you are fully aware of the reason I called you here?"

"Jim?" I ask and he nods.

"You haven't been attending his classes for the past two days and he told me you disrespected him in class on Tuesday."

"Of course he did." I look down already annoyed.

"So what happened on Tuesday?"

At least he's giving me the chance to explain myself.

"What did he tell you?" I wanted to know how many of Jim's lies I would have to uncover here.

"He said that you refused to follow instructions, disturbed the classroom and more above called him names he couldn't even mention."

"What instructions did I refuse to follow?" I seriously don't remember refusing him anything. "Disturbed the classroom? Please, he's the one who stopped teaching just to have a go at me, like he always does. All I did was call his class stupid, he himself calls his students stupid at times. How unethical, but suddenly nobody comments on that?"

"Please calm down..."

"You will believe his words over mine anyway. I don't even know why you called me." Why would they fire a teacher who's been here for over ten years? In fact, Mr Jim was once upon a time a student in this college as well.

I was surprised with my attitude but I was done with this islamophobic people. If I'm not welcome here then I'll just leave. I'm not even gonna bother trying to please anyone anymore.

"If you stand for your words, I might even consider analysing the situation further," he says.

"What are you going to do now?"

"First of all, I want to say your behaviour was unacceptable, in this college we do not educate students for that, but you have a point_," he states. Before he could continue further someone knocks on the door.

Miss Lila then peeks in and Mr Karl welcomes her in.

"I just came to see how things were going," she sits next to me. "Isn't she supposed to be in a lesson right now?"

"We are having a conversation about her disliked behaviour this week_"

"Stop right there Mr Karl. If there's anyone who should be reprimanded for their behaviour, not only this week, but every other week, is Jim. He's the one who should be sitting here, explaining himself and hopefully if you were smart enough you would fire him." She says and gives him a fake smile.
