Chapter One

Going to gigs has always been one of the best parts of my life. Never in a million years could I imagine meeting the people and friends that I have...

My best friend Shari and I have been going to gigs together for what seems like years, and today we are going to see one of our favourite Adelaide bands All Year Round.

We've gotten to know AYR really well and we're super excited because this gig we've actually managed to score access to soundcheck, and Shari is starting to get all giggling and nervous and is checking her phone every five seconds.

Pretty sure she's either talking to that drummer guy from The Drive Home again, Callum I think his name is... I swear they should just meet in person and go out already, she's been talking to him online for months now, it's annoying and super cute at the same time or she's just really excited about seeing AYR.

Getting ready for gigs has always been a time consuming for Shar and I because we always have like five different outfit options and can never make up our minds, typical females I know... But the morning of this particular gig I swear it's ten times worse that usual, from in between the smiles and giggles from her apparently Callum is going to the gig today to finally meet up with Shari.

So consequently she's second guessing everything she's chosen to wear and is throwing her clothes everywhere, including all over me, who for the first time ever is actually ready before Shari.

I ended up going with my navy AYR shirt that I'd cut the sleeves off of with a black crop top underneath, paired with leggings and my canvas shoes that I've had signed at the various gigs by all the bands.

I was about to start on my makeup when all of a sudden my phone dings, I check and see a tweet from All Year Round to say that the people with soundcheck had to be there an hour before doors, as they had a surprise for us.

I let out a slight squeal and tell Shari to move her ass because doors are at 3pm and it's currently almost 12 as we still need to drive to the venue and find a decent carpark.

After my "encouragement" Shari finally decided on on a white singlet paired with her black super skinnies and signed purple vans, similar to my shoes.

We both decide it's going to be easier if we take our makeup with us and do it in the car when we get to the venue, as we have to leave really soon if we want a really good park.

So we grab our makeup bags and handbags and head downstairs, and head outside to where my car is parked.

We peal off down the street with the windows down and AYR cranked on my stereo on our way to the venue.
