*not proof read bc im a lazy bitch* Ik shocker
So far I've volunteered at the hospital for a week straight. Every. Single. Day.
Vanessa literally never stops working. I even pulled twelve hours with her after my normal eight hour work shift.
It was around two in the afternoon, Vanessa got off early today and thank god I had today off.
"Sooooo" she broke the comfortable silence we've grown to fall in during after work car rides, because of how tired we were.
I opened my eyes and lifted my head from the head rest with a soft grin, turning my head to look at her. "Soooo" I repeated back to her.
"Do you like it?" She asked.
"What? Working at the hospital?"
She nodded her head and looked at me before checking her passenger side mirror to see if it was safe to switch lanes.
I guess I kinda liked it, even though i was mainly there for her. Overall it was nice. I've been helping my mom take care of Cat and Aj since i was younger so I'm used to helping people.
I shrugged and focused my eyes on all of the signs we were passing. " Yeah it's cool" I smiled and looked at her again. "You're kind of annoying when you're jacked up on caffeine but it's fun"
She gasped and let out a cute little giggle. "You're the annoying one always complaining!"
"Ouch, i was just kidding but now we know how you really feel about my presence" i joked.
She rolled her eyes and briefly looked at me smiling. "Shut up, all jokes aside it has been fun."
She pulled into my driveway and put her car in park.
I reached into my pocket and grabbed cash out of my phone case. Then handing her two crisp twenty dollar bills. "Thanks for always dropping me off" I smiled.
She shoved my hand back and shook her head. "No I don't need your money" She chuckled. "Thank you but it's fine"
I rolled my eyes and nudged the door open, slowly making my way out. I stood to my feet and shut the door before leaning through the window. "What time does your shift start tomorrow?" I asked.
"Im not telling you" she giggled. "Take the day off and rest. You've been working nonstop for free basically"
"It's not for free actually" i cleared my throat and smoothed my hands over my scrub sleeve. "I am honored to serve Mrs. Crawford her room temp apple juice everyday at 1:30pm sharp." I said sarcastically.
We both tried our hardest to keep a straight face but eventually we burst out in laughter.
Mrs.Crawford was a 73 year old woman in room 306 who had severe dementia and claims to see things we can't see. She also loves room temp apple juice at certain times of the day for whatever reason.
As her laughter died down she grabbed my travel cup from the cup holder and handed it to me. "But no seriously, rest please. Doctors orders!" She smiled.
I stood up and rolled my eyes as i took a step back so she could back out. Once she reached the road I noticed her window was down still so i set my bag and travel mug down on the red brick driveway and ran towards the car as fast as i could. I quickly threw the cash through the open window and scared the life out of her. She slammed on her brakes and looked at me in the rear view mirror.
"I hate you!!!" She screamed.
I watched her drive away from the end of my drive way until i was interrupted by someone hitting my shoulder.
