The first thing of which I am brutally aware once I wake up is my morning breath. I bury my face in the pillow to prevent polluting the room with the stench. But my need to look beside me is too great. I keep my mouth covered but peer beside me.

"Good morning, beautiful."

Despite the delighted smile that blooms on my face, I shake my head and shove my face back into the pillow. I can't let the stink escape.

Que grosso.

I feel him shift in the bed and then a hand brush my bare shoulder. Light, ticklish in a good way.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

His morning voice is . . . yummy.

I mumble into the pillow, "Morning breath."

He chuckles and plays with my hair. "This isn't the first time you've slept over, Sola."

I sit up, resting on my elbows. I trap the pillow beneath my chin. "This is the first time like this." I gesture to the (beautiful) nakedness of his body.

He smiles and it's like he's trying to X-ray vision through the bedsheets at the equal nakedness of my body. "I think this is my favorite of our sleepovers."

"Shut up," I say as I push his face away from me.

Chuckling, he dips beneath the blankets. Before I can react, he's thrown the blanket above my head too and he's tickling me. Within minutes, I'm claiming surrender.

"I like waking up next you," he says, an innocence to his voice in contrast to the disregarded clothes strewn on the floor.

And even though his hair is staticy against the blanket, and I'm self-conscious of my morning breath, I have to agree: seeing his smile first thing when I wake up is my new favorite thing.

Okay, second favorite to seeing Johnny Seo naked.
