Reed is cursed to have a repeating illness that causes him to loose his color, have a very weak immune system, and faint. He was cursed by an evil fairy who stole him but eventually defeated. The curse prevents him from ever completely healing. It's impossible to lift the curse or heal the damage done to him by it.
