Day 21
{written by the sweet rebeccadunlap503 )

It was a few days before Christmas and I was missing my Nana terrible, she wasn't able to make it back to Russia from Paris in time but she promised to ring in the new year with us and that's all that mattered.

I looked over to my nightstand to see the beautifully handcrafted musical box nana gave to me before she left a few months ago. It was my most cherished gift even after what my parents got me down to the lavish dress to the fine jewelry, the music box was special, there was thought behind it.

"Olga" I whispered. Shaking her softly from her slumber. Her eyes slowly opened, she briefly smile before she spoke. "Anastasia, why are you still awake?" She asked. "I miss Nana" I replied, a single tear shed. "I know Anastasia, how about I sing Nana's lullaby to you?" Olga said softly. "That would be perfect Olga" I replied. "Then you must go to your room" Olga said in a motherly tone. "Okay" I replied. I quickly made my way back to my room with Olga following closely behind. I softly opened the door and quietly got cosy under my silk bed spread. Olga carefully took the music box off my night stand and slowly winded it up. Then the sweet melody I know and love slowly made it's way to my ears.

"Dancing bears,
Painted wings,
Things I almost remember,
And a song someone sings,
Once upon a December.
Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a silver storm,
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory
Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a silver storm,
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory.
Far away,
Long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart used to know,
Things it yearns to remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December..."

Olga finished the song softly and I finally closed my eyes. I dreamed of my Nana.

As Olga walked out she whispered "Good night Anastasia."
